This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership and real-world impact.Key Responsibilities Backend & Platform EngineeringArchitect, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python (Django, Django REST Framework, Flask)Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices for high-volume document workflowsEnsure backend systems are secure, performant, and production-readyManage PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, migrations, performance tuning, backups, and recovery OCR & Document IntelligenceBuild and optimize OCR and document processing pipelines using AWS TextractExtract structured data from tax documents, invoices, PDFs, and scanned filesHandle complex document layouts including forms, tables, and multi-page PDFsImprove extraction accuracy and reliability through preprocessing and validation logic AI & LLM IntegrationsIntegrate AI/LLM-based solutions using OpenAI APIsImplement document Q&A, summarization, and analysis workflows using LangChain and FAISSDesign scalable embeddings and retrieval pipelines for large document sets Cloud, DevOps & ReliabilityDeploy and manage applications on AWS / Azure (Linux/Ubuntu environments)Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelinesMonitor systems, handle service restarts, and ensure platform stabilityPerform cloud cost optimization and performance tuningTroubleshoot production issues and continuously improve reliability and observability Required Skills & QualificationsCore Technical SkillsStrong proficiency in PythonHands-on experience with Django, Django REST Framework, and/or FlaskProven experience with OCR and document intelligence solutionsPractical experience using AWS Textract for form and table extractionStrong knowledge of PostgreSQLExperience with AWS and/or AzureREST API design and third-party integrationsLinux server management (Ubuntu)Git-based version controlNice to HaveExperience with microservices architecturesFamiliarity with Docker and containerized deploymentsBasic front-end understanding (HTML/CSS, Bootstrap)Prior experience working with financial, tax, or compliance-driven systems Experience Level5–10 years of professional experience in backend engineering, AI systems, or document processing platforms
