We’re looking for the best technologists, inventors and leaders in India to join us on this exciting new journey.If you’re excited by the prospect of creating something magical from scratch, then read on.What the role is all about:As a Lead Engineer (5-8 years’ experience) on our Observability team, you will empower hundreds of engineers at REA by providing them with a best-in-class observability toolkit. Your team owns and evolves our core observability stack.Your primary mission will be to enhance and automate this platform, with a key focus on building robust tooling to deeply integrate these services into our Kubernetes (K8s) environment. This is a high-impact role that directly improves the reliability of REA's products and the productivity of our development teams.While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include:- Evolve and manage REA's central observability platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and cost-effective. - Build and maintain tooling and integrations to seamlessly embed observability into our internal developer platform. - Act as a subject matter expert, partnering with development teams to establish best practices in monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting. - Troubleshoot and optimise the performance of the observability platform itself (Splunk, New Relic, etc.). - Develop automation to streamline operational tasks. - Mentor and guide other engineers within the Observability team.Who we’re looking for:- 5-8 years of engineering experience with a strong focus on observability, SRE, or platform engineering. - Deep expertise with observability tools - Proven experience building developer-focused tooling and platform integrations, preferably using a general-purpose language - Strong experience with containerisation and cloud platforms. - A solid understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and proactive monitoring. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to evangelize observability practices and guide other engineers.Bonus Points for:- Experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel). - Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).What we offer:- A hybrid and flexible approach to working. - Transport options to help you get to and from work, including home pick-up and drop-off. - Meals provided on site in our office. - Flexible leave options including parental leave, family care leave and celebration leave. - Insurances for you and your immediate family members. - Programs to support mental, emotional, financial and physical health & wellbeing. - Continuous learning and development opportunities to further your technical expertise.The values we live by:Our values are at the core of how we operate, treat each other, and make decisions.
