Vice President of Engineering

Role OverviewWe are seeking an exceptional VP of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization as we revolutionize enterprise AI solutions. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a hands-on technical leader who sets the engineering vision while actively contributing to our most critical technical challenges. This is a role for a builder at heart – someone who has spent their career in the trenches writing code, architecting systems, and launching products that scaled to millions of users.As our VP of Engineering, you will own the technical decision making for scaling our AI cloud solutions for the enterprise. You will lead by example, rolling up your sleeves to solve complex distributed systems challenges while building and mentoring a world-class engineering team. You will establish our engineering culture, drive architectural decisions that will define our platform for years to come, and ensure we maintain the highest bar for technical excellence.QualificationsRequired:- 12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 8+ years focused on building and scaling cloud-native applications in production environments - Proven track record of launching and scaling products from inception to millions of users, with deep understanding of the technical challenges at each stage of growth - Extensive experience architecting and building distributed cloud systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including microservices, event-driven architectures, and multi-tenant SaaS platforms - Active coding skills – you should be comfortable reviewing PRs, prototyping solutions, and jumping into the codebase as needed. This is not a PowerPoint or Jira curation role - Startup experience – you have thrived in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments where you had to build scrappy solutions that still scaled - Deep passion for AI/ML technologies with hands-on experience integrating LLMs, training models, or building AI-powered products. You follow the latest AI research and can translate breakthroughs into product opportunities - Experience leading distributed international teams across time zones, with proven ability to build strong engineering culture remotely - Technical leadership experience where you have mentored senior engineers, made critical architectural decisions, and balanced technical debt with product velocity - Strong background in modern engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and DevOps culture - Excellence in technical communication – ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and inspire engineers with technical vision - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experiencePreferred:- Track record of building enterprise B2B SaaS products with complex security and compliance requirements - Contributions to open-source projects, particularly in AI/ML, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure - Experience with multiple programming paradigms and polyglot architectures - Previous experience as a founder, CTO, or VP Engineering in a successful startup - Publications, patents, or speaking engagements on technical topicsWhat You Will Do- Own the technical vision and execution for scaling our AI platform to serve enterprise customers globally - Lead by example – review code, contribute to architecture decisions, and occasionally pair program on critical features - Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team focused on quality over quantity - Establish engineering excellence standards and best practices that enable us to move fast without breaking things - Drive the integration of cutting-edge AI technologies into our enterprise platform - Ensure our systems maintain enterprise-grade reliability, security, and performance at scale - We are building a core technology hub in India, and you will be its founding leaderAbout DeepRunner AIDeepRunner AI is revolutionizing the workplace by building AI-powered automations that empower human workers.
