The TOI Editorial function is the driving force behind the generation of content that shapes the reader experience. With a focus on news and analysis, this function constantly endeavours to implement path-breaking ideas and drive value-creation innovations. Summary: The candidates should have excellent language skills, news sense in both the soft and hard news space. The candidate should be a team player who can engage with our editorial team spread across the country for ideas and inputs. The background could be news publication or in the space of hard news. Willingness to learn and adapt, quick thinking, ability to take and respond to feedback real-time, and to work without the need for micromanagement are more important to discharge this than editing/writing skills. Roles & Responsibilities: 2-4 years of experience in print media editing. (newspaper)Edit copies, select photos and give graphic ideas, headlines and captions. Liaise with reporters for graphic matter and stories and with photographers for photos to offer our readers a value-added and differentiated product. Draw layout dummies for the assigned pages/edition, decide on stories and pictures to be taken to produce a visually pleasing page. Make pages, give catchy headlines, give smart tagline adages and informative captions, and make attractive and informative graphics and edit and rewrite stories to produce error-free, informative and attractive pages. Scan agencies for relevant stories which are not being covered by reporters to maintain the paper’s edge over competitors and ensure that no story is missed. Education:Educational Qualifications: Graduation degree in any discipline preferably in English with degree or diploma in journalism/mass communication.
