Job Description:

Role Overview The Detailing Lead will own end-to-end detailing for steel poles (utility, lighting, telecom, and special poles), delivering fabrication-ready drawings, BOMs, cutting lists, and nesting plans with high accuracy and on-time release. The role ensures compliance with applicable standards, manufacturability on shop floors, and clear communication across Design, Production, QA, Planning, and Client/Consultants. The Lead will guide a team of detailers/checkers and drive standardization and continuous improvement in detailing processes. --- Key Responsibilities 1) Technical Delivery · Prepare, review, and approve GA drawings, shop drawings, connection details, bolt schedules, weld maps, BOM, cutting lists, and plate/pipe nesting for poles. · Translate structural calculations and design outputs into fabrication-ready detailing; eliminate ambiguity for fit-up and welding on the shop floor. · Ensure CAD standards (layering, blocks, title sheets, dimensions, tolerances) and robust revision control. · Conduct clash checks, fit-up feasibility, and fabrication/erection reviews; raise and close RFIs promptly. · Validate drawings against client specs, IS/IEC/BS EN standards (e.g., IS 2713, IS 2062, IS 800, IS 9595), QAPs, and internal SOPs. · Manage as-built reconciliation and drawing updates post production/erection feedback. · Optimize material utilization via nesting and provide inputs for process planning (cutting, bending, welding, galvanizing allowances). 2) Cross-Functional Interface · Collaborate with Structural Design for intent clarity, Production for manufacturability, QA for compliance, Procurement for material specs, and Planning for schedule adherence. · Provide shop-floor support: issue clarifications, respond to NCRs, and drive corrective actions in drawings. · Coordinate with clients/consultants for technical approvals; track and close comments within agreed timelines. 3) People Leadership & Governance · Lead and mentor a team of detailers/checkers; conduct peer reviews and formal QA checks. · Plan and track work packages; ensure on-time issuance of drawing sets per milestones. · Champion standardization: templates, libraries, macros/automations, and lessons-learned repository. · Maintain robust document control: drawing logs, transmittals, revision histories, and compliance records. · Promote EHS and quality-first culture; ensure adherence to ISO 9001 QMS practices in documentation. --- Required Qualifications · Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical/Civil/Production Engineering (or equivalent). · 6–10 years of experience in steel detailing for poles/tubular structures/towers/fabricated steel; utility/lighting/telecom poles preferred. · Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D); Tekla Structures (preferred). Experience with nesting tools (e.g., SigmaNEST) is an advantage. · Working knowledge of relevant codes/standards: IS 2713, IS 2062, IS 800, IS 9595, and IEC/BS EN equivalents where applicable. · Practical understanding of fabrication processes, welding, galvanizing, tolerances, and shop-floor constraints.
