Job Description:
Society for Applied Studies (SAS) is a not-for-profit premier research organization that conducts cutting edge healthcare research across the spectrum of biomedical, epidemiological and implementation research. SAS has contributed significantly to public health in India by developing new vaccines (such as Rotavirus), testing new interventions (such as community based management of severe acute malnutrition) and through scaling up of evidence based interventions (such as community based Kangaroo Mother Care). Publications from SAS appear regularly in high impact journals such as Lancet and BMJ. Basic Healthcare Services is a not-for-profit organization that provides primary healthcare services in tribal-rural belt of Udaipur, Salumber and Dungarpur districts. It reaches the most vulnerable communities through a network of responsive primary healthcare centres called AMRIT clinics. BHS offers a continuum of preventive, promotive, and curative care while using a combination of innovations in human resources and technology. BHS is one of the leading voices on primary healthcare in India and extensively documents and writes on issues related to healthcare of the marginalized populations in lay press and scientific journals. Project Background Sankalp is a multi-site Implementation research project for optimizing models for reducing districtwide neonatal mortality to a single digit i.e. less than 10/1000 births. It is a national health research priority project funded by ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and BMGF (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) being conducted in Dungarpur district of Rajasthan in collaboration with state health department. Post: Research Manager - (Scientific: Technical/ Non-Medical) Qualification: Professionals with PhD in Public Health Or MPH from a reputed institute or an MD (community Medicine), Or First Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees in relevant subjects such as population studies Desirable qualification: experience/ expertise in social sciences. For all of above: Three to Five years of experience in community based research with publications Consolidated remuneration per month: Rs. 75,000 to Rs 1,00,000 Salary commensurate to experience and qualification subject to the maximum Number of Posts: 1 Required attributes: · The project implementation area is Dungarpur district, Rajasthan. The selected candidates will have to stay in the field area in Dungarpur district for the duration of the project · Good command over English and Hindi languages Desired attributes: · Candidates with experience in intervention/ implementation research/ health systems research in tribal areas is preferred · Excellent written and communications skills, interpersonal skills, organizational and networking skills · Knowledge of statistical and/or qualitative coding software – R/ Python/ STATA/ SPSS/ Atlas ti/ QDA miner/ NVivo, etc. Benefits SAS is a research-intensive institution, and BHS is a premier primary healthcare organization.
