We are building cutting-edge Al-driven platforms that power intelligent healthcare solutions, blending strong engineering with advanced machine learning.Role Overview:We are a startup building a number of physician facing and patient facing digital health tools. We are hiring a Head of Engineering to own technical architecture, execution, and engineering management.This is a hands-on, applied role focused on translating product vision into scalable, optimized and maintainable software systems and the Head of Engineering will the engineering team to deliver reliably. This is not a managerial role alone, since we are a startup in active build mode. We value ownership over titles, execution over presentation, and adaptability over rigid specialization. The role, based on performance, leads to the CTO role.Compensation is offered as combination of ESOPs and salary.Responsibilities:The Head of Engineering will shoulder the following responsibilities:I. Technical Leadership:Own system architecture, codebase structure, and technical roadmapMake and document architectural decisionsSelect technologies, frameworks, and infrastructure Build and integrate agents and agentic workflows into the product.Establish rigorous testing, validation, and quality evaluation frameworks appropriate for AI-enabled systems.Manage technical debt pragmatically without unnecessary rewritesDesign systems that are compliance-aware by architecture (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).Operate effectively in a hands-on startup environment, combining strategic leadership with direct technical contribution.II. Platform, Infrastructure and Secure Enablement:Cloud and infrastructure architecture supporting the product, including environment isolation (development, staging, production) and deployment pipelines.Design automated, self-service workflows that enable designers and other non-engineering roles to safely contribute (e.g., previews, asset updates, feature toggles) without direct access to production or cloud consoles.Implement and enforce least-privilege access controls, auditability, and operational guardrails appropriate for a data-sensitive / regulated domain.Ensure infrastructure and workflows are reproducible, documented, and resilient, reducing reliance on manual intervention.Partner with the Founder/CEO to balance security, velocity, and cost as the system evolves.III. Execution and Delivery:Customer point of contact and post sales support through the teamEnsure predictable delivery and qualityEstablish engineering best practices appropriate for stageIV. People Management:Hire, mentor, and manage engineersConduct code reviews and performance feedbackBuild a culture of ownership and accountabilityV. Founder Collaboration:Advise the Founder/CEO on technical implications of product decisionsClearly communicate tradeoffs, risks, and constraintsExecute decisively once product direction is finalizedVI. Documentation and Continuity:Own technical documentation, onboarding guides, and runbooksBuild redundancies and all required documentation to ensure minimal dependence on individual employees.Our requirements for the role are flexible, are looking for someone who has experience with a wide range of technology stacks.
