Company DescriptionTAK AUTOMATION - COIMABATORERole DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Engineer HMC/VMC CNC Machine Shop at TAK Automation, located in Coimbatore. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for operating and maintaining HMC/VMC CNC machines, programming CNC machines, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. The role also involves overseeing the shop floor operations, ensuring that production processes run smoothly and efficiently, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety in the shop.Core Roles and ResponsibilitiesA Senior Engineer in a CNC machine shop is a technical leader responsible for the entire machining process, from planning to quality control. Their key responsibilities include:1. CNC Programming and Process Planning:- Program Development: Develop and optimize NC (Numerical Control) programs for HMC and VMC machines. This includes writing new programs, modifying existing ones, and ensuring they are efficient and reliable. - CAD/CAM Expertise: Utilize 3D modeling and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit ) to create tool paths and simulate machining processes. - Process Engineering: Analyze engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to translate them into precise, actionable machining steps. - Cycle Time Optimization: Estimate and reduce cycle times for new and existing products to improve overall productivity and cost-effectiveness.2. Machine Operations and Setup:- Setup and Fixture Design: Design and implement effective fixtures and tooling for new and complex parts. This is a critical skill for a senior-level role. - Tooling Selection: Select appropriate cutting tools, define cutting parameters (feeds, speeds, depth of cut), and manage tool lists. - Hands-on Support: Oversee and assist with machine setup, ensuring correct fixturing and tool alignment for high-precision machining. - Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to machine malfunctions, programming errors, or out-of-tolerance parts.3. Quality Control and Improvement:- Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality team to ensure all finished parts meet the required specifications and quality standards. - Inspection: Conduct first-off inspections and spot checks on production parts using precision instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges. - Process Analysis: Implement and maintain continuous improvement initiatives like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to reduce waste and enhance efficiency. - Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of NC programs, tool lists, inspection reports, and production logs.4. Leadership and Management:- Team Supervision: Manage and mentor junior engineers, CNC operators, and production staff. - Production Management: Oversee daily machine shop operations, including production scheduling, manpower allocation, and monitoring key performance indicators like OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and rejection rates. - Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other departments, such as design, quality, and supply chain, to ensure seamless production and problem-solving. - Vendor Coordination: Communicate with external vendors for outsourcing jobs, technical discussions, and quality checks.5. Safety and Maintenance:- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all company, local, state, and federal safety protocols. - Preventive Maintenance: Oversee and sometimes perform routine maintenance on HMC/VMC machines to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. - Housekeeping: Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization within the work area.Key Skills and QualificationsA successful HMC/VMC Senior Engineer typically possesses:- Education: A Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering. - Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of hands-on experience in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment. - Technical Skills: - Proficiency in CNC/HMC/VMC machine operations and programming (G-code, M-code). - Expertise in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, Esprit , AutoCAD). - Strong knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T. - Fixture and tooling design expertise. - Familiarity with various control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens). - Soft Skills: - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. - Strong leadership and people management skills. - Effective written and verbal communication. - Process-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and cost. - Knowledge of ERP systems like SAP is often a plus.-
