Job description Role & responsibilities Position: Senior Safety Engineer EV Manufacturing Plant Department: EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Location: Coimbatore Reporting to: Head – EHS Role Overview Responsible for ensuring a safe and sustainable workplace at the Propel EV plant, focusing on highvoltage and battery-related safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to ISO standards. The role will drive implementation of safety management systems, EHS compliance, and sustainability initiatives in alignment with BRSR guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Implement and monitor ISO 45001 (OHSMS) and ISO 14001 (EMS) systems across the EV plant operations. Ensure EHS compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and local/national standards. Develop and execute safety protocols for High Voltage systems, battery assembly, charging infrastructure, and related testing activities. Conduct risk assessments, job safety analysis (JSA), and HIRA specifically for electrical and battery management processes. Drive incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions. Lead emergency preparedness and response plans, including mock drills and HV safety training. Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE, LOTO systems, and safe operating procedures for HV and chemical handling areas. Support implementation of sustainability initiatives in alignment with BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting) requirements. Conduct EHS audits, internal and external inspections, and ensure timely closure of nonconformities. Promote employee awareness, training, and behavioral safety culture throughout the plant. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, R&D, Quality) for proactive EHS integration into projects. Maintain documentation and periodic reporting of EHS KPIs, waste management, and carbon footprint reduction initiatives. Desired Profile Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Environmental) Additional qualification in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / Diploma in Safety preferred 7–10 years of experience in EHS, preferably in automotive / EV / battery manufacturing industries In-depth knowledge of: High Voltage & Battery Management System safety ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards EHS statutory compliance and audits BRSR and sustainability reporting Strong communication, training, and analytical skills. Proactive, safety-driven mindset with ability to influence and implement change.
