Job Title: Legal Officer Industry: FMCG / Sports / Footwear Qualification: BL/LLB from a recognized university Experience Required: Minimum 3 years as a Legal Officer in a Corporate Company Location: CHENNAI Reporting To: CEO/ MD Job Purpose: To manage and oversee all legal matters of the company including contracts, compliance, litigation, and statutory obligations to safeguard the company’s interests and ensure legal compliance across all business operations. Key Responsibilities: Drafting, reviewing, and vetting various legal documents, agreements, MoUs, distributor agreements, vendor contracts, lease agreements, franchise agreements, etc. Handling legal compliance related to FMCG and footwear/sports product regulations, packaging norms, labor laws, and commercial laws. Coordinating with external legal counsel for litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution. Providing legal advisory to management and internal departments on business transactions, contracts, and regulatory issues. Ensuring statutory compliance under Companies Act, Legal Metrology Act, Consumer Protection laws, IPR laws, and other applicable regulations. Managing legal notices, replies, consumer complaints, and documentation for legal proceedings. Assisting in trademark registration, brand protection, anti-counterfeit actions, and IP-related matters. Preparing legal MIS and maintaining documentation and contract repository. Supporting HR and Admin on labor law compliances, disciplinary actions, and employment contracts. Representing the company before statutory authorities when required. Desired Candidate Profile: Law Graduate (LLB / BL) from a recognized university. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Officer / Legal Executive in a corporate environment , preferably in FMCG, Consumer Goods, Retail, Sportswear, or Footwear industry. Strong knowledge of corporate law, commercial agreements, consumer laws, labor laws, and compliance frameworks. Exposure to trademark protection and intellectual property matters will be an added advantage. Ability to handle litigation coordination, legal drafting, and contract management independently. Good communication, negotiation, and documentation skills. Proficiency in MS Office and legal documentation tools.
