Centrally located on a scenic campus, LAHOC is dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome. The school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programmes, including the NIOS curriculum, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Who are we looking for We are looking for a skilled Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), providing instructional support tailored to students’ unique needs, maintaining thorough documentation and reporting, managing student behaviour effectively, and adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners. A commitment to collaboration, empathy, and continuous professional growth is essential. Key Responsibilities: Assess students' speech, language, and communication abilities using standardised tests and informal evaluations. Develop and implement Individualised Therapy Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s specific needs and goals. Provide one-on-one and group speech therapy sessions to improve articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive communication. Work closely with special education teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists and parents to support integrated student development. Monitor and document students’ progress and adapt therapy plans as needed. Assist in the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools when appropriate. Educate and train staff and caregivers on communication strategies and support techniques. Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities. Maintain detailed records and comply with all school policies and regulatory standards. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders. Valid certification or license to practice as a Speech Therapist (as per local/state regulations). 3 to 7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities Experience working with children with special needs preferred. A bilingual medium of instruction requires candidates to be proficient in English and Tamil Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies. Patience, empathy and strong interpersonal skills Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids, and devices Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams Good organisational and documentation skills
