Medical Coder - Surgery

Job Title: Assistant Manager/Lead Assistant Manager – Surgery Coding (Independent Contributor) Requirements: 7+ years of experience in medical coding or auditing for surgery (outpatient, professional, APC, ASC, etc.) CPC, COC, or other AAPC/AHIMA coding certification (mandatory) Experience in auditing and Radiation Oncology coding/auditing (preferred) Expert-level (SME) knowledge in Surgery Coding, including handling complex cases Strong project management, multitasking, and training skills Excellent PC skills: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and internet-based programs Strong verbal and written communication skills Strategic management experience Responsibilities: Apply comprehensive coding and clinical knowledge to code and audit surgical (outpatient & professional) medical records Understand and interpret payer processes relating to Surgery, APC, and Outpatient procedures Collaborate on developing solutions to automate data extraction and recognition for coding and audits Promptly respond to emails and operational requests, reporting to the manager as needed Analyze benchmarks, research code updates, and resolve coding issues Deliver training and support to team members as required Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgery coding and clinical rules Research and address coding challenges in a proactive manner Perform strategic and data-driven analysis Additional Information: Open to candidates seeking an Individual Contributor (IC) role Flexibility to adapt to evolving project and client requirements Competitive compensation and benefits If you are a highly skilled Surgery Coding/Auditing professional with advanced certification and are ready for a dynamic individual contributor position, we encourage you to apply!
