Job Title: Head – Electromechanical Engineering (Surgical Robotics) Qualification: Ph.d / Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree (IIT Candidates Prefers Only) Note: Non IIT resources are not eligible (Please don't apply) Location: Chennai, IIT Madras Research Park Department: Engineering / Robotics (R&D) Experience: Minimum 10+ Years with capable to handle more then 15 members of team. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Role Overview We are seeking a visionary Electromechanical Engineering Head – Robotics to lead the design, development, and integration of advanced electromechanical systems for next-generation robotic platforms. The role requires deep expertise in robotics, mechatronics, and system integration, along with proven leadership in driving innovation from concept through commercialization. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and control engineers working on robotic systems. Oversee the design, development, and validation of robotic sub-systems including actuators, sensors, motion control, power systems, and structural components. Drive end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept design, prototyping, testing, certification, to production. Collaborate with robotics software, AI/ML, and controls teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration. Define and implement engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices in electromechanical development. Evaluate and adopt cutting-edge technologies (motors, drives, sensors, materials, control systems) to enhance robotic performance. Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to ensure design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-reliability (DFR). Manage Product timelines, budgets, and resources while ensuring compliance with international robotics and safety standards. Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent within the team. Qualifications & Experience Ph.d / Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering (IIT Candidates Prefers Only ) . 10–20 years of experience in robotics, automation, or mechatronic product development, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role. Proven expertise in electromechanical system design, including actuators, motion control, drive systems, sensors, and robotics hardware. Strong knowledge of CAD/CAE tools, electrical design software, and system simulation. Experience in robotic system prototyping, testing, certification, and scaling to production. Familiarity with safety and compliance standards for robotic systems (e.g., ISO 10218, IEC 61508). Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
