Job Responsibilities - Establish yearly and long-term goals for the library function aligned with the Schools mission Prepare and document all library policies in collaboration with the teaching faculty and supervise and maintain library resources Select, purchase and process new materials to assure a current and balanced collection representing diverse points of view To create an enriched library environment that will motivate students to read, treasure literature, and develop research skills Collaborate with instructional staff in preparing and delivering lessons that make effective use of information resources and incorporate the use of information literacy skills. Maintain a collection of current professional development materials. Serve as a staff resource on academic integrity and issues such as copyright, intellectual property rights and intellectual freedom. Provide group and individual instruction in information literacy skills, including digital and media literacy, research strategies, and use of resources. Actively promote reading and library use through such activities as storytelling, book talks, displays, publications, reading programs, and special events. Prepare and administer the library budget. Selecting and purchasing books, periodicals, and other materials Organizing and maintaining the library collection Providing instruction on how to use the library, including research and information literacy skills Planning and delivering library programs, such as author visits or book clubs Collaborating with teachers to design and implement research projects and other library-based learning activities Assisting students in finding and using information resources Promoting reading and literacy programs Keeping track of library budget and statistics Participating in professional development to stay current with new trends and technologies in librarianship Librarians will also be responsible for managing and maintaining digital resources such as e-books, databases, and research tools. They may also be responsible for the supervision of library staff and volunteers.
