Position Details Position Title: Deputy Manager PayrollDepartment: Human Resources – Compensation & BenefitsReporting To: Manager – Payroll & BenefitsLocation: Chandrapur, MaharashtraIndustry: Integrated Steel Plant / Manufacturing Role Purpose To ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing and related statutory obligations for all employees. The role focuses on payroll operations, employee benefits administration, statutory compliance, full & final settlements, audits, process automation, and stakeholder management while driving continuous improvements in payroll efficiency and employee experience. Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing & Administration End-to-end processing of monthly payroll for on-roll and off-roll employees. Validate attendance, leave, overtime, incentive, and shift allowance inputs. Administer salary revisions, increments, promotions, and transfers. Ensure accurate salary computation, arrears calculation, reimbursements, and bonus payouts. Execute Full & Final (F&F) settlements for separating employees, including notice pay recovery, leave encashment, gratuity, PF, and pending reimbursements. Statutory Compliance Ensure compliance with all labor laws and statutory requirements (PF, ESI, Gratuity, LWF, PT, Income Tax, Bonus Act, etc.). Handle periodic filing of returns, challans, and payments to regulatory authorities. Support statutory audits and respond to queries from authorities. Employee Benefits Management Administer employee benefits such as leave encashment, insurance, medical, gratuity, and superannuation. Address employee queries related to salary, tax deductions, benefits, and F&F settlements. Coordinate with insurance providers, PF trusts, and other benefit partners. Compliance & Audit Support internal, statutory, and external audits by providing payroll and F&F settlement records. Maintain compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and data privacy norms. Ensure proper documentation of payroll, benefits, and exit settlements. Technology & Process Improvements Work with HRMS for payroll and F&F settlement automation. Drive digitization of payroll and exit settlement processes. Identify gaps and suggest improvements in payroll accuracy, turnaround time, and employee experience. Stakeholder & Employee Interface Act as the first point of contact for payroll- and F&F-related queries. Partner with Finance, HRBP, and Compliance teams for reconciliations and reporting. Support management with payroll analytics, F&F dashboards, and periodic reports. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 100% accuracy in payroll processing and F&F settlements. Timely disbursement of salaries, settlements, and statutory payments. Audit compliance without major observations. Employee query resolution within defined SLA. Implementation of payroll and F&F process improvements. Job Specifications Education & Certifications MBA (HR/Finance) / / PG in HR / CA (Inter) preferred. Certification in Payroll Management / HRIS is desirable. Experience 6–10 years of experience in payroll management in large-scale manufacturing/ISP/industrial sector. Hands-on experience with payroll systems (SAP HR, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or equivalent). Proven experience in handling Full & Final Settlements. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of payroll systems, labor laws, and statutory compliance. Expertise in MS Excel, payroll reconciliations, and F&F calculations. Knowledge of tax computation, TDS, and labor legislation. Behavioral Competencies Detail-oriented with high accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills. Continuous improvement mindset.
