Role DescriptionWe are looking for a talented Character Designer & Illustrator to help us create an original, commercially appealing character brand. The goal is to develop a lovable set of characters that can be used across digital content and merchandise, including greeting cards, stickers, plush toys, stationery, and other gift products.We want someone who can take an idea from early concept stage through to polished illustrations, while creating characters that feel distinctive, memorable, and scalable as a brand.What you’ll be doingDevelop original character concepts from scratchCreate character style explorations and visual directionsDesign appealing facial expressions, poses, and personality traitsProduce polished character illustrations in a consistent stylePrepare character sheets, expression sheets, and pose variationsHelp define the visual identity of the characters, including shapes, proportions, colors, and signature featuresEnsure designs are suitable for merchandise such as greeting cards, stickers, plush, and stationeryRefine concepts based on feedback and collaborate on creative directionWhat we’re looking forStrong portfolio showing character design and illustration workExperience creating cute, expressive, commercially viable charactersAbility to create characters with clear personality and emotional appealStrong understanding of shape language, color, expression, and silhouetteAbility to work in a clean, consistent illustration styleExperience designing for consumer products or merchandise is a plusAbility to deliver layered, editable source filesGood communication and ability to take feedback wellIdeal experienceCharacter design for brands, mascots, children’s products, stickers, social content, or merchandiseIllustration work that can translate well into plush toys, cards, packaging, and digital assetsExperience building recurring characters rather than one-off artworkFamiliarity with kawaii, cute, lifestyle, or emotionally expressive character design is a plusImportantAll work must be 100% originalDesigns must not infringe on or closely resemble existing characters or brandsFull commercial rights and IP ownership will transfer to us upon final paymentPlease include relevant examples of character design work in your applicationTo apply, please sendYour portfolioExamples of character design workAny work involving merchandise, stickers, greeting cards, plush, or mascotsYour rate or project feeEstimated timeline for concept development and final artwork
