Job Description – Plant Operations Head - GujaratPosition Title: Plant Operations HeadDepartment: Operations / ManufacturingReporting To: COOLocation: Bharuch, GujaratJob PurposeThe Plant Operations Head is responsible for leading the overall plant operations and ensuring achievement of business objectives related to production, profitability, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The role is accountable for the plant’s overall P&Lperformance, operational excellence, and strategic execution while driving continuous improvement across all functions.Key Responsibilities1. Overall Plant Leadership & P&L ManagementLead end-to-end plant operations with full accountability for plant performance and profitability.Drive achievement of production, quality, cost, delivery, and safety targets aligned with business objectives.Manage and optimize plant budgets, operational costs, and resource utilisation to improve profitability.2. Strategy, Policy & GovernanceEstablish, implement, and review departmental policies, systems, goals, objectives, and operating procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.Develop short-term and long-term operational plans aligned with organisational growth strategy.3. Cross-Functional Operations ManagementDirect and coordinate key functional areas, including:Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)ProductionEngineering & MaintenanceProduction Planning & Control (PPC)Quality AssuranceFinanceSales CoordinationEnsure seamless interdepartmental collaboration to achieve plant objectives.4. People Management & Capability BuildingAssess manpower requirements and oversee workforce planning.Interviewing and training of employees.Build a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and capability development of teams.5. Operational Excellence & Daily ManagementConduct daily reviews on:Plant safety performanceProduction output and schedule adherenceProduct quality statusProductivity metricsProcess wastage and loss reductionEnsure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.6. KPI Monitoring & Performance ReviewsLead monthly reviews of key plant performance indicators, including:Budget vs Actual Departmental ExpensesCustomer ComplaintsDIFOTIS (Delivery In Full, On Time, In Specification)Process WastageMachine Breakdown / DowntimeEnergy Consumption & CostContinuous Improvement (CI) Projects7. Continuous Improvement & Cost OptimisationDrive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and other operational excellence initiatives.Identify and implement productivity improvement and cost-saving opportunities.8.
