Senior AI Backend Engineer

Senior Python Engineer (AI/Backend) Full-time remote position focused on Python development, software engineering, and AI integration. Key Responsibilities - Lead development of complex Python applications using the Django framework - Design and build AI-powered features, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and intelligent search systems - Integrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and other AI/ML services into backend systems - Manage vector databases and embedding workflows for knowledge retrieval - Manage projects from conception through deployment - Ensure timely delivery and high-quality output - Contribute independently to the codebase - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including US-based colleagues - Implement and enforce best practices around code quality, testing, and documentation - Evaluate and recommend emerging AI tools, frameworks, and models to improve product capabilities Requirements Essential Qualifications - 6+ years of experience with Django or Python web development - 2+ years of hands-on experience building AI/ML-powered applications or features - Demonstrated experience building RAG pipelines using frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack - Proven experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, etc.) into production backend systems - Working knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, ChromaDB, or pgvector) - Strong understanding of prompt engineering and LLM orchestration patterns - Proven track record of successful Python projects - Exceptional communication skills — both written and verbal - Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment - Strong independent work ethic, self-motivation, and discipline - Comfortable working overlapping US team hours Preferred Qualifications - Experience with React front-end development - Basic knowledge of GoLang - Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their AI/ML services (SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure AI) - Experience with fine-tuning or evaluating LLMs - Familiarity with embedding models and semantic search techniques - Knowledge of AI observability and evaluation tools (LangSmith, Weights & Biases, etc.) - Understanding of Agile methodologies Technical Skills - Python, Django, Web Development, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) - LLM APIs & Orchestration (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex) - RAG Architecture & Vector Databases - Database Management (relational + vector stores) - API Design & Integration Work Environment - 100% Remote - Collaborative international team - Project-driven development approach
