The 5-day program covers portfolio discovery, mainframe (IBM Z) modernization, hyperscaler target architectures (Azure-led, with AWS and GCP coexistence), application refactoring, and agentic AI accelerated delivery. Cohorts progress through taught sessions, paired and individual labs, and a capstone where teams use Agent Builder to compress a real client modernization scenario end-to-endKey Responsibilities Teaching and Content Delivery • Deliver technical sessions across the 5-day arc covering portfolio assessment, mainframe modernization, hyperscaler target architectures, application refactoring patterns, and agentic AI accelerated delivery. • Translate dense modernization content (6R/7R dispositions, replatform vs. refactor trade-offs, AP×Q economics, zCloud patterns) into clear explanations for a mixed-skill audience spanning mainframe veterans, cloud-native engineers, and consulting practitioners. • Walk through reference target architectures for IBM Z modernization, Azure landing zones, hyperscaler coexistence, and containerized application estates. Live Demonstrations and Lab Facilitation • Run live technical demonstrations of mainframe modernization workflows (AMI portfolio scans, code analysis, replatform/refactor patterns), Azure-based target deployments, containerization, and Agent Builder workflows. • Walk all lab exercises in parallel with participants on a shared screen, setting time expectations and announcing progress checkpoints. • Monitor participant progress during labs, identify who is stuck, and intervene early with pairing or targeted support rather than waiting for a hand to be raised. Cohort Management • Recognize and respond to different skill levels within the cohort. Proactively pair, redirect, or stretch participants based on their progress.• Create a learning environment where participants feel safe asking questions, taking risks, and surfacing problems early. • Manage groups of 50 participants in virtual or hybrid settings, or sets of ten participants in breakout rooms, while maintaining session energy and engagement across a full week of training. • Circulate between breakout groups during labs and the capstone, asking guiding coaching questions to keep teams focused and scoped. Continuous Improvement • Maintain a running log of environment issues, participant questions, and instructional friction encountered during delivery. • Contribute observations and recommendations to the post-cohort improvement process within 48 hours of delivery. • Keep delivery materials current with the latest lab instructions and known-issue workarounds before each cohort. Strongly Recommended (Good to have) • IBM certifications in z/OS, COBOL, or zCloud-related disciplines. • Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, or AZ-204). • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Application Developer (CKAD). • Hands-on experience with mainframe modernization tooling such as IBM Watsonx Code Assistant for Z, IBM Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence (ADDI), Micro Focus Enterprise, or comparable. • Familiarity with hyperscaler mainframe-modernization offerings (e.g., AWS Mainframe Modernization, Google Dual Run). • Experience with hand-over models such as ADEC / AppCOE / AMS or equivalent application managed-services constructs. • Regulated-industry context: financial services, insurance, healthcare, or public sector modernization engagements. Preferred Background • Prior experience designing or delivering instructor-led technical bootcamps or workshops for engineering cohorts. • Background in software architecture, application modernization consulting, or cloud transformation delivery. • Experience leading or participating in mainframe-to-cloud or distributed-to-cloud migration programs. • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps practices as context for the audience. • Instructional design or curriculum development experience.NIIT is an equal opportunity employer.
