Role Summary This role will be responsible for developing and implementing Newcastle University’s recruitment strategy in India. The position will directly report to the Principal Advisor – India for Newcastle University, along with the Head of Launchpad at UKIBC. There are two roles available, each role will have region-specific responsibilities. The role will contribute to achieving the University’s international recruitment targets while ensuring that student recruitment from India remains sustainable and future-proof. The post holder will build successful working relationships with key partners and stakeholders in India (including recruitment agents, universities, schools, colleges, the British Council, alumni and graduate employers) in order to increase the number of high-quality students to Newcastle University. Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Duties Develop and implement Newcastle University’s regional student recruitment strategy along with the Principal Advisor – India, ensuring the University’s recruitment targets and strategic goals are achieved. Drive market development and market penetration in assigned regions (including Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities), through market intelligence, data analysis, and relationship-building. Represent the University at student recruitment events in the region, including but not limited to agent fairs, school visits, British Council activities, academic outreach, and seminars, offering advice and information to potential applicants, offer-holders, and their influencers on the University and UK HE in general. Deliver presentations and information sessions to prospective students and other key stakeholders on a regular basis. Fully responsible to manage enquiries from students and other stakeholders in India, ensuring excellent levels of customer service and that all potential student leads are followed up and driven from enquiry to application and from application to registration. Build, strengthen, and maintain the University’s profile and reputation across India. Build and maintain excellent working relationship with key contacts in agent offices and be the first point of contact, ensuring timely and high-level support to them. Lead on the development and delivery of high-quality information and training resources for Indian recruitment agents and other stakeholders. Develop the Undergraduate market by building excellent relationships with High School counsellors, and identifying and delivering priority engagements, outreach and academic activities. Support academic visits to India, by organising in-country recruitment activities as directed by the Principal Advisor – India and providing logistical support for travelling staff. Assist with the evaluation and monitoring of projects, including production of market and periodic activity reports. Provide insights and guidance on Indian market trends, institutions, and qualifications to inform University strategy. Ensure the provision of accurate information, advice and guidance to prospective students and other key stakeholders in India on issues relating to student recruitment and admission to Newcastle University. Build positive relationships with alumni and develop a network in support of recruitment objectives. Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection laws and University policies. Monitor policy developments in India and the UK that may affect international student recruitment and advise stakeholders accordingly. Undertake additional duties as directed by the Principal Advisor – India or the Newcastle University International Office. Person Specification Experience, Skills and Competencies 5 years of working experience in Higher Education sector (Essential) Extensive experience in a similar role within the education sector in India. (Desirable) Experience of studying in the UK (Desirable) Newcastle University Alumni (Desirable) Possess a degree from a UK university, relevant professional qualification and/or substantial experience of delivering educational marketing activities. (Desirable) Experience in supporting a UK Higher Education Institution in the development and execution of an India student recruitment strategy (Desirable) Highly organised with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities with minimal supervision. (Essential) A high level of English Language proficiency. (Essential) Proven ability to build and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders such as students, parents, agents, schools, universities, and other partners. (Essential) Up to date knowledge of the UK university application process and issues facing prospective international students and their advisers in relation to university admissions. (Essential) A proven understanding of the Indian HE system. (Essential) Excellent communication skills (written and oral) demonstrating an ability to deal with a wide range of people with varying levels of understanding, with experience and aptitude for developing and delivering engaging presentations to a variety of audiences. (Essential) This post requires a substantial amount of travel within India and periodic travel to the UK for training purposes. Appointees must, therefore, be prepared to undertake such travel and to work outside regular office hours including evenings and weekends as necessary.
