Lead - Thermal Engineer Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Thermal Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cycle balancing, heat load calculation, and component selection for HVAC systems. The role involves designing, analyzing, and optimizing HVAC systems to ensure efficient thermal performance and compliance with industry standards. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 8-10 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering, with a focus on cycle balancing, heat load calculations, and component selection. Skills: Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, creo ,CFD Energy Plus). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and industry standards. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Certifications: (Relevant certifications, if any, e.g., LEED, ASHRAE certifications). Job Roles & Responsibilities: • Thermal cooling system design for Battery Packs and related systems. Analyze and balance HVAC cycles to optimize system performance. Ensure proper distribution of heating and cooling across all zones. Troubleshoot and resolve imbalances in HVAC systems. • Thermal load calculation for battery packs and related systems like chiller units, HVAC etc Integrate HVAC components and systems to ensure seamless operation. Perform system testing, validation, and commissioning to verify performance and compliance with specifications. Monitor and adjust system settings as needed to achieve optimal performance. • Design and Select appropriate HVAC components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and fans, based on heat load calculations and system requirements. Evaluate and recommend high-efficiency and reliable components to enhance system performance. • Knowledge of thermal materials e.g. thermal interface material, insulators, solid conductors • Thermal design and associated analysis Should be experienced & knowledge of problem-solving techniques cause an, root cause analysis and provide solutions where required. • 1D thermal and electrical system modelling knowledge and development of 1D codes for Li ion battery • Knowledge of Battery electrical architecture and loss calculations Preparation of Data sheets and Calculations for heat load and temperature profiles. Preparation and definition of thermal logics, Thermal Modelling, Software Simulation and Analysis. Component integration, testing and validation to verify thermal system • Knowledge of mechanical design of battery pack • Knowledge of International standards on battery packs and allied systems e.g. SAE J2929, AIS 038 AND 039 • Knowledge of automotive coolant and corrosion mechanism for cooling system • Selection & design of subsystem components like connectors, hoses, pumps, filter units, absorbents, etc • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design reports, calculations, and specifications. Maintain records of component selections, system configurations, and performance data. • Compliance and Standards: Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations related to HVAC systems. Stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in HVAC engineering. • Testing and validation NPD process where needs to align with all CFT teams (mostly Validation to complete DVPV/DVVP work etc.
