The group owns and operates Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSoM), IFIM Institutions, Vijaybhoomi University (VU), and DSJ Keep Learning Limited (SYM: KEEPLEARN), a publicly listed company.SANKALP focuses on building high-quality academic institutions with strong governance, financial discipline, and long-term sustainability.A bit about the roleWe are looking to hire a Finance Controller to strengthen financial discipline, reporting accuracy, and process enforcement across SANKALP’s institutions and operating companies.This is a hands-on finance control role, focused on execution, enforcement, and visibility, not system design or finance transformation. The role will work closely with senior leadership to ensure budgets, cash flows, payroll, compliance, and procurement processes are adhered to consistently across entities.The Finance Controller will act as a single point of accountability for financial hygiene and escalation.Detailed roles and responsibilities1.Financial Reporting & MISa.Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities.b.Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of MIS and statutory reports.c.Present budget vs actuals, variance analysis, and cash position summaries.d.Maintain consolidated and entity-wise financial visibility.2.Cash & Payroll Controla.Monitor daily cash positions across institutions and companies.b.Ensure payroll readiness and timely salary processing across entities.c.Track short-term cash gaps and escalate risks early to management.d.Monitor inter-company balances, receivables, and settlements.3.Budgeting & Spend Disciplinea.Support preparation of annual and quarterly budgets for each entity.b.Track utilization against approved budgets.c.Flag deviations and enforce escalation before overspending occurs.d.Ensure spends align with approved financial plans.4.PR / PO / Procurement Enforcementa.Enforce adherence to PR → PO → Invoice → Payment processes.b.Ensure payments are made only against approved documentation.c.Track exceptions and maintain an exception approval log.d.Coordinate with procurement and operations teams to ensure discipline.5.General Ledger & Controlsa.Ensure integrity and accuracy of the general ledger across entities.b.Perform periodic reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.c.Maintain clear audit trails for all financial transactions.6.Compliance & Statutorya.Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, PF, ESI, MCA, and other statutory requirements.b.Maintain a compliance calendar and track filings and payments.c.Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and internal teams during audits.d.Prepare quarterly and yearly result with auditors.7.Team Managementa.Supervise a team of accountant executives under to manage each institutions operation.b.Hire, train and retain future talent in the finance and accounting space.8.Audit & Review Supporta.Support internal and external audits with documentation and explanations.b.Ensure audit observations are tracked and closed.c.Strengthen basic internal controls through enforcement.9.Stakeholder Coordinationa.Work closely with institution heads, HR, procurement, and finance teams.b.Escalate risks and non-compliance clearly and objectively.c.Act as a neutral enforcer of agreed financial processes.The profile of an ideal candidate1.Chartered Accountant (CA) is strongly preferred.2.9–11 years of relevant finance / accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity or group structure.3.Strong hands-on experience in financial reporting, compliance, payroll, and cash management.4.Experience enforcing budgets, payment controls, and approval processes.5.Comfortable escalating issues and blocking non-compliant payments when required.6.Experience working with Tally and strong Excel skills.7.Prior exposure to audits and statutory compliance.8.Detail-oriented, process-driven, and execution-focused.9.Ability to work in a high-accountability environment with multiple stakeholders.Why you should join us1.Opportunity to play a critical control and governance role in a growing education group.2.High ownership and visibility with senior leadership.3.Exposure to managing finance across multiple institutions and companies.4.Ability to create impact through discipline, clarity, and execution.5.Stable, long-term role focused on strengthening fundamentals rather than constant firefighting.LocationElectronic City, Bangalore
