This is a hands-on leadership role that sits at the core of a safety-critical medical device — requiring deep expertise in power electronics, analogue and digital design, and medical device compliance. If you thrive on complex engineering challenges and want your work to have a direct impact on patient outcomes, this role is for you. Key ResponsibilitiesHardware Design & DevelopmentDesign and develop high-power hardware systems including DC-DC converters, inverters, and SMPS power supplies for AC and DC-based systems.Work with analog and digital interfaces, perform board bring-up, and lead testing and debugging activities.Select appropriate components including microcontrollers, memory ICs, driver ICs, ADC/DAC components, MOSFETs, IGBTs, and interface designs.Design PCB layouts that meet electrical, EMC, safety, mechanical, thermal, DFA, and DFM requirements, with strong adherence to impedance control and length matching guidelines.Regulatory & Safety ComplianceEnsure all hardware designs meet medical device safety and performance standards, including IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2.Participate in AFMEA, own the DFMEA process, and collaborate with manufacturing teams on PFMEA.Conduct design of experiments to investigate issues, apply structured root cause analysis methodologies such as Fishbone and 8D, and implement effective CAPAs.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with EMS partners and vendors to improve process quality, product reliability, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and automated testing outcomes.Conduct detailed requirement analysis, translate specifications into system-level requirements, and provide effort estimations for proposals.Collaborate with firmware teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and microcontroller interfaces.Technical LeadershipMentor and guide junior hardware engineers, providing technical direction and supporting their professional development.Lead and review PCB design activities, ensuring the team adheres to established design standards and best practices.Contribute to product lifecycle management and drive continuous improvement across the hardware engineering function. What We’re Looking ForQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc.). Minimum 8 years of experience in hardware design, with a strong focus on high-power electronics and medical devices. Demonstrated experience designing hardware for safety-critical applications in compliance with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2. Working knowledge of defibrillators, electrocautery systems, or X-ray systems will be a distinct advantage. Experience in people management and team handlinSkills & CompetenciesStrong foundation in circuit theory, electrical engineering principles, and mixed-signal circuit design. Hands-on expertise in high-power electronics — DC-DC converters, SMPS, MOSFET and IGBT-based designs, and high-voltage component selection. Proficiency in signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC design concepts. Experience designing firmware for microcontroller interfaces. Familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence, Altium, PSpice, OrCAD, and Mentor Graphics. Proficient with standard test instruments including DSOs, multimeters, and power supplies. Strong understanding of product reliability and performance characterisation.Proven ability to guide and mentor PCB and hardware design teams. Why This Role MattersThis is a high-impact, hands on role for someone who is ready to take full ownership of high-power electronics. You will take end-to-end ownership of high-power hardware design for a life-critical medical device, with significant technical and leadership accountability. The role offers deep specialisation in a niche and highly valued domain — high-power electronics within regulated medical device development. You will work across the full hardware development lifecycle — from requirements and design through compliance, validation, and manufacturing transfer. You will have the opportunity to mentor and shape a team of engineers, directly influencing technical standards and engineering culture. Your work will contribute to devices deployed in emergency and critical care settings, where the quality and reliability of your designs has a direct and meaningful impact on patient outcomes.Location - Bangalore
