Position:Manager / AVP – People Risk, Governance & Controls (HR Function) Location:Mumbai Experience:8+ years in HR Governance, Risk & Control, or Operational Risk roles in a Global Environment. Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled professional to leadPeople Risk governance, operational risk controls, and compliance oversightwithin the HR function of a leading global bank. This role spans bothFirst Line of Defense (1LoD)andSecond Line of Defense (2LoD)responsibilities, partnering with global and regional HR, risk, and corporate teams. It demands strongrisk oversight, process control, and stakeholder engagementskills, as well as the ability to work across HR operations and enterprise-wide risk frameworks. Key Responsibilities 1LoD – HR Oversight & Challenge Embed robust risk & control practices into HR operations and workflows. Identify, assess, and mitigate People Risk within HR processes. Provide independent challenge and advisory support to HR teams on control effectiveness. 2LoD – Risk Governance & Control Oversee HR governance and control frameworks across regional and global teams. Facilitate regular interaction between 1LoD and 2LoD to align on risk priorities. Monitor and expand People Risk-related KRIs/KPIs; use data analytics to inform recommendations. Conduct threshold testing, monitoring, and present findings to senior stakeholders. Cross-Functional & Reporting Develop and maintain People Risk dashboards, reports, and presentations for senior HR and Risk leaders. Enhance control methods to prevent significant operational risk events. Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and headcount planning for HR. Track and report HR cost and expense accruals, preparing monthly/quarterly analysis. Manage creation and refresh of Statements of Work (SOW) between global entities. Deliver ad-hoc data analysis and executive summaries for management decision-making. Key Skills & Experience Mandatory: 8+ years in HR Governance, Risk & Control, or Operational Risk roles in financial services. In-depth understanding of ORM frameworks, RCSA processes, and People Risk management. Proven ability to improve processes and strengthen control environments. Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with senior leaders. Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail. Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Desired: Experience in HR Operations within a global bank. Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI) at a beginner level. Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to automate processes. Strong problem-solving mindset and service orientation.
