1. Demonstrate passion for, and knowledge of news- follow top stories of the day, story developments, etc. Structure the bulletins to unfold latest developments in an engaging manner. 2. Understand newsroom strategy and target audience associated with different time bands (morning, afternoon, evening). Use this knowledge to design the rundown for higher level of audience engagement. 3. Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members/ key stakeholders in the news making process- producers, anchors, assignment desk, shift supervisor, etc. - Interact with Shift Supervisor to understand the relative importance of individual news items and any specifics to be kept in mind for sequencing and finalizing the rundown. - Assemble all elements that are required as part of the rundown sequence in coordination with the respective news / show producer. - DeBrief the anchor for the respective bulletin before scheduled on-air time and modify the rundown, if required. - Coordinate with reporters on live. - Coordinate with the assignment desk to convey requirements for implementing the finalized rundown sequence. - Constantly coordinate with PCR for changes in rundown- screen pattern, switching between anchor/ guests/ reporters, taking and resuming ad breaks etc. - Sequence the stories relative to one another and individual elements e.g. which reporters to bring in and at what time etc. - Sequence both studio and non-studio elements e.g. phonos etc. 4. Concentrate on several areas of work at one time, prioritizing work load, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities. 5. Manage personal effectiveness by managing emotions in the face of pressure, setbacks or when dealing with provocative situations. Demonstrates an approach to work that is characterized by commitment, motivation and energy. 6. Adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups. Able to understand and appreciate different and opposing perspectives on an issue, to adapt an approach as the requirements of a situation change. 7. Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members/ key stakeholders in the news making process- reporters, desk, news/ show producer, PCR etc.
