Position:Staff Nurse / GNM – University Dispensary Department:University Health Centre / Dispensary Institution:Brainware University Reports To:Medical Officer / University Administration1. Position Overview:-The Staff Nurse / GNM posted at the University Dispensary shall be responsible for providing primary nursing care, first aid, and emergency support to students, faculty members, and staff of the university campus. The position supports the Medical Officer in delivering healthcare services to a university population of approximately------ students and ----- faculty members , ensuring timely medical assistance, health promotion, and proper management of the dispensary facilities.2. Key Responsibilities:-A. Clinical Care and Patient Management Providefirst aid, basic nursing care, and primary health assistanceto students, faculty, and staff visiting the dispensary. Conductinitial patient assessment , including recording vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Assist theMedical Officerduring patient examination, treatment, and minor procedures. Administermedications, injections, dressings, nebulization, and other nursing proceduresas prescribed. Manageminor illnesses and injurieswithin the scope of nursing practice.B. Emergency Care Provideimmediate nursing care during medical emergenciesoccurring on the university campus. Manageaccidents, injuries, fainting episodes, allergic reactions, or sudden illnessuntil medical assistance is available. Coordinatereferral and transfer of patients to nearby hospitals or medical facilitieswhen required.C. Dispensary Operations Maintaincleanliness, hygiene, and readinessof the university dispensary. Maintainfirst aid kits and emergency equipmentwithin the dispensary.D. Documentation and Record Maintenance MaintainOPD register, treatment records, nursing procedure records with treatment provided, and medication administration records . Maintainconfidentiality of medical recordsand patient information. Preparedaily or monthly reports of dispensary servicesas required by the administration.E. Health Promotion and Preventive Services Assist in organisinghealth awareness programs, health camps, and preventive health initiativeswithin the university. Providehealth education on hygiene, nutrition, stress management, and communicable disease prevention . Supporthealth screening and medical check-up programsconducted by the university.F. Coordination and Communication Coordinate withhostel authorities, university administration, and departmentsduring health-related incidents. Communicate withambulance services and referral hospitalsduring emergencies. Assist in organisinghealth and safety initiatives on campus .G. Professional and Ethical Responsibilities Maintainprofessional nursing standards, ethics, and patient confidentiality . Followinstitutional policies, infection control practices, and safety guidelines . Participate intraining programs, continuing nursing education, and institutional meetingswhen required.3. Qualifications & Experience:-GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery)from a recognised institution. Registered Nurse and Midwife (RN & RM)with the State Nursing Council. Experience Preferably2–3 years of clinical experiencein a hospital Experience inemergency care or outpatient serviceswill be an added advantage. Skills and Competencies Strongclinical and first aid skills , able tomanage emergencies calmly and efficiently independently . Goodcommunication and interpersonal skillsto interact with students and faculty. Working Conditions The Staff Nurse shall work in theUniversity Dispensary/Health Centreserving a campus population of approximately18,800 individuals (students and faculty) .
