Job Description: Assistant Manager – Transport ManagementLocation : Seshadripuram, BangaloreExperience : 6-10 yearsKey ResponsibilitiesPlan, schedule, and monitor primary (plant/mother warehouse to depot) and secondary (depot to customer) dispatches.Ensure timely vehicle placement and adherence to SLAs.Verify billed amounts against agreed contract rates and approved rate cards.Validate distance, weight, and vehicle type as per LR (Lorry Receipt).Ensure GST compliance on freight invoices (HSN, tax split, place of supply, registration details).Post verified bills for timely payment and resolve transporter queries.Cross-check LR copy, e-way bill, and GRN for each trip; ensure document completeness.Prepare MIS reports: transport cost (primary & secondary), per-kg/per-km benchmarks, lane-wise cost, and variance analysis.Highlight variances and recommend corrective actions (route optimization, vehicle mix, load planning).Liaise with warehouse operations, sales, finance, and transport partners for smooth operations.Handle escalations, demurrage/detention approvals, and penalty management.Drive initiatives to reduce lead time, improve fill rates, increase vehicle utilization, and minimize freight leakage.Support rate discovery and renewal with historical cost and performance data.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Average freight cost per kg / per km / per laneInvoice first-pass yield (no. of invoices cleared without query)% POD closed within agreed TATE-way bill compliance rateDetention/Demurrage cost as % of freightDiscrepancy rate (billed vs dispatch records)Audit NCs (number and severity)Skills & KnowledgeStrong knowledge of transport operations (FTL/LTL), LR, e-way bill, GRN, POD.GST on freight and invoice validation.ERP/WMS/TMS proficiency (e.g., SAP).Advanced Excel (pivot, lookup, power query); Power BI preferred.Analytical ability for cost variance and route optimization; Lean tools (5S, Kaizen).Excellent documentation, audit readiness, and communication skills.
