Job Title: Locomotive Safety ExpertExp: 10+ YearsNotice Period: Immediate to startLocation: Bangalore/Pune/CoimbatoreDepartment: Safety Engineering / Rail Systems.Note: Immediate joiners are considered for this role.Role Overview:We are seeking a seasoned Locomotive Safety Expert to lead and support safety engineering activities across the lifecycle of locomotive development and operation. This role is critical in ensuring that safety is embedded from concept through to delivery and operation, in compliance with international railway safety standards and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development and execution of Safety Plans for locomotive systems and subsystems.Define and maintain Safety Concepts and System Safety Requirements in alignment with project and regulatory needs.Conduct and oversee hazard identification (HAZID), hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), risk assessments, and safety analyses (e.g., FMEA, FTA, ETA, CCA).Develop and maintain Safety Cases, ensuring traceability of hazards, mitigations, and verification evidence.Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN50701 and other applicable CENELEC or international standards.Collaborate with engineering, operations, and certification teams to ensure safety is integrated into design and operational processes.Support independent safety assessments (ISA) and liaise with Notified Bodies (NoBo) and Assessment Bodies (AsBo).Provide expert guidance on RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) methodologies and tools.Mentor junior safety engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes and tools.Required Qualifications & Experience:Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 10+ years of experience in railway safety engineering, with a focus on locomotives or rolling stock.In-depth knowledge of railway safety standards and system safety engineering practices.Proven experience in safety case development and regulatory compliance.Proficiency in safety analysis tools (e.g., Medini Analyze, PTC Windchill Quality Solutions, Isograph).Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.Desirable Skills:Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional certification.Experience with software and hardware safety integration.Familiarity with cybersecurity standards in railway applications (e.g., IEC 62443).Experience working in cross-functional and international teams.
