SAP TM Functional Lead

Role OverviewAs a SAP TM Functional Lead, you will run SAP TM solutions end-to-end, ensuring alignment with business objectives and global templates. You will lead design workshops, define architecture, manage delivery teams, and act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams. This role demands strong leadership, deep functional expertise, and the ability to drive complex transportation management transformations. Core ResponsibilitiesSolution Ownership & LeadershipLead end-to-end SAP TM implementations (Greenfield, Rollouts, Upgrades).Define solution architecture, blueprint, and configuration strategy for TM.Drive Fit–Gap analysis, process harmonization, and global template governance.Act as single point of accountability for TM solution delivery and quality.Design & ImplementationTranslate business requirements into scalable TM solutions.Configure advanced TM functionalities: planning strategies, optimizer tuning, carrier collaboration, charge management, and freight settlement.Oversee TM master data design: locations, resources, lanes, networks, and rate structures.Integration & Technical CoordinationEnsure seamless integration with SD, MM, EWM, FI/CO, and external systems (via IDocs, BAPIs, OData, APIs).Collaborate with ABAP/BTP teams for WRICEF developments and performance optimization.Governance & DeliveryManage project timelines, risks, and dependencies; provide status updates to PMO and leadership.Define test strategy, oversee SIT/UAT, and lead cutover and hypercare phases.Establish change management, training, and adoption strategies.Stakeholder EngagementConduct executive workshops, solution demos, and sign-offs.Mentor junior consultants and guide cross-functional teams.Act as trusted advisor for transportation process improvements and SAP TM best practices.Required Qualifications & Experience9–16 years overall experience; 7+ years in SAP TM with at least 2 full-cycle implementations as Lead.Expertise in SAP TM 9.x and/or Embedded TM in S/4HANA.Strong knowledge of:Transportation Planning & Optimization (VSR).Freight Order/Freight Unit lifecycle.Tendering strategies and carrier collaboration.Charge calculation sheets and freight settlement.Proven experience in global template design, multi-country rollouts, and complex integration landscapes.SAP TM certification preferred; S/4HANA and Activate certifications are a plus.Key SkillsLeadership & Governance: Ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders.Solution Architecture: Designing scalable, integrated TM solutions.Integration Expertise: SD/MM/EWM/FI and external systems.Analytical & Problem-Solving: Handling complex transportation scenarios.Communication: Executive-level presentations and workshops.Ideal ProfileSAP TM expert with deep functional and architectural knowledge.Experienced in Embedded TM in S/4HANA and global template governance.Strong client-facing skills and ability to run TM independently.Familiarity with Agile/Activate methodology and DevOps practices.
