MeshDefend is an early-stage VC funded startup that is building AI-Native Agentic Operating System for Enterprise Data Infrastructure. This role is for someone who enjoys building autonomous, learning systems end to end, from experimentation and prototyping through production deployment at scale. We are specifically looking for candidates who have taken AI agents or LLM-based systems into production and have firsthand experience handling reliability, monitoring, failure modes, and continuous iteration.You will work closely with Founders, product design, and engineering to build AI systems that reason, plan, and act autonomously. Beyond building models and agents, you will be responsible for taking agentic systems into real production environments, ensuring reliability, security, observability, and continuous improvement.This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will help define how AI is built, deployed, and operated across the company, and will play a key role in establishing strong AI and AI operations foundations.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and iterate on autonomous AI agentsImprove current agentic systems and build new ones from prototype to productionArchitect agentic workflows involving planning, tool usage, memory, and feedback loopsSelect, train, fine-tune, and evaluate models for real-world constraints such as latency, cost, and robustnessImplement AI systems using modern agent frameworks and orchestration toolsPartner with Data Engineers to define, curate, and maintain high-quality training and evaluation datasetsWork closely with product and engineering teams to translate user problems into AI-driven solutionsEstablish best practices for AI security, data privacy, and responsible deploymentContribute to building AI operations foundations including deployment pipelines, monitoring, and model governanceRequired Experience and Skills3+ years of hands-on experience in applied AIStrong hands-on experience building and operating AI agents including planning agents, tool-using agents, and learning agentsExperience with modern agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, or equivalentSolid understanding of agent architectures including memory management, planning loops, tool invocation, and feedback-driven learningExperience designing multi-agent workflows and coordination patterns is a strong plus. Experience in model selection, training, fine-tuning, optimization, evaluation, and testingStrong understanding of data security, application security, and AI-specific risk considerationsAbility to collaborate closely with engineering, product, and data teamsStrong Plus QualificationsExperience deploying and operating AI systems at scale using MLOps or AI Ops practicesFamiliarity with observability, monitoring, and evaluation of agent behavior in productionExperience optimizing AI systems for cost, latency, and reliabilityExposure to multi-agent systems or complex workflow orchestrationExperience working in early-stage or fast-moving product environments
