Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & PedagogyDeliver undergraduate and graduate courses in core areas such as Reservoir Engineering, Drilling Mechanics, Production Operations, and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR).Modernize curriculum to include emerging trends like Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS), geothermal energy, and data analytics in the oilfield.Supervise senior design projects and provide academic advising to students.2. Research & InnovationEstablish and maintain a robust, externally funded research program.Publish original research in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals (e.g., SPE Journal, Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering).Lead collaborative research initiatives with industry partners and government agencies.Mentor and supervise Master’s and Ph.D. candidates through their thesis and dissertation processes.3. Service & LeadershipParticipate in departmental and university-wide committees (e.g., Curriculum Committee, Faculty Search).Engage with professional organizations such as the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).Contribute to the accreditation process (e.g., ABET) and continuous improvement of the engineering program.Required QualificationsEducation: A Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field.Experience: A proven track record of teaching excellence and significant research output at the Assistant Professor level (typically 5+ years).Technical Proficiency: Experience with industry-standard software such as Petrel, Eclipse, CMG, or Kappa.Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic environment.Preferred QualificationsPrior industry experience with a major operator or service company.Professional Engineer (PE) license.Experience in securing competitive federal or industrial research grants.
