Role OverviewA well reputed Indian company (“Company”) with global presence in the gold and silverrefining and trading sector is seeking a highly networked professional to strengthen itsCorporate & Regulatory Affairs function. This senior leader will serve as the Company’sprimary interface with government and regulatory bodies, ensuring that issues areaddressed promptly and efficiently without requiring constant CEO follow-up.The role requires strong experience in assisting corporates in India with regulators, inparticular:- Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)- Ministry of Finance- Ministry of Commerce- Customs- Other trade regulatorsKey ResponsibilitiesGovernment & Regulatory Liaison• Take full ownership of day-to-day engagement with DGFT, the Ministry of Finance, theMinistry of Commerce, Customs, and other trade regulators.• Act as the principal government contact, freeing senior leadership from routine follow-ups.• Represent the Company in high-level meetings, industry forums, bullion associations,parliamentary committees, and policy consultations.• Advocate policy changes with regulators and ministries in alignment with Company andindustry interests.• Support the implementation of multinational corporate mandates in India, ensuringconsistency with global policies.Regulatory Compliance• Design and oversee Company strategy on matters such as import/export of gold andsilver, customs duties, GST, hallmarking, and bullion trade rules.• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and proactively address potentialchallenges.• Handle submissions, approvals, licenses, and responses to government notificationsindependently.• Engage with regulators to resolve compliance issues and secure timely clearances.Internal Advisory & Coordination• Provide actionable insights to leadership on policy developments, Union Budget impacts,and international bullion regulations.• Coordinate across internal teams (legal, finance, operations, and trading) to ensuregovernment requests and compliance filings are managed seamlessly.• Deliver concise updates to the CEO/COO on regulatory risks, opportunities, and progressof engagements.Stakeholder Collaboration• Act as primary liaison with regulators, industry associations (e.g., GJEPC, bullionassociations), and trade bodies.• Build partnerships with think tanks, consultants, and policy advisors to strengthen theCompany’s positioning.• Collaborate internally with business units to align operational, financial, and tradeactivities with regulatory requirements.Crisis Management• Take charge of urgent regulatory matters, including sudden policy shifts, audits, orenforcement actions, ensuring rapid resolution without burdening senior leadership.Qualifications & Experience• Postgraduate degree in Law, Economics, Public Policy, or related discipline.• 10–15 years of experience in Corporate/Regulatory Affairs, ideally in bullion, jewellery,precious metals, or related commodities (mining, refining, trading).• Proven long-term engagement with DGFT, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry ofCommerce.• Strong understanding of customs, GST, hallmarking, bullion trade regulations, and DGFTguidelines.Key Skills & Competencies• Strong network with DGFT, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, and Customsofficials.• Exceptional advocacy and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of achievingresults through persistent engagement.• Deep understanding of governmental and regulatory workings in India.• Excellent networking skills with industry participants and policy influencers.• High integrity, discretion, and independent execution capability.• Ability to reduce senior leadership time spent on regulatory matters by driving ownershipand accountability in this function.
