Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instrumentation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining instrumentation systems for efficient operation of automated processes across various industries. Key Responsibilities: Design and Implementation: Design, develop and implement control systems for industrial processes using PLC, SCADA, DCS or RTU systems. Process Automation: Develop control strategies and algorithms for process automation ensuring systems meet operational requirements. Instrument Selection: Select and specify instrumentation (e.g., flow, pressure, temperature, level sensors) for process control systems. System Documentation: Create control system diagrams including P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and Control Logic Diagrams. Installation and Calibration: Oversee the installation calibration and commissioning of instrumentation systems ensuring they meet design specifications and industry standards. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine and corrective maintenance on control systems including troubleshooting and diagnostics of hardware and software issues. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all instruments are properly calibrated and perform periodic calibration checks to maintain system accuracy and reliability. Process Improvement: Implement process automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency reliability and safety. Technology Integration: Integrate new technologies and systems to improve process control reduce downtime and optimize system performance. Analysis and Optimization: Analyze existing systems and identify areas for automation improvements energy savings or process enhancements. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system malfunctions providing fast and effective solutions to minimize downtime. Predictive Maintenance: Conduct regular preventive maintenance on instruments and control systems to ensure they are operating at peak efficiency. Collaboration: Coordinate with operations teams to identify and resolve system failures or process deviations. Project Management: Lead or support instrumentation and control-related projects managing timelines budgets and resources effectively. Documentation: Maintain and update documentation related to system designs instrumentation specifications test results and calibration records. Reporting: Provide detailed reports on system performance project progress and any technical issues to senior management. Compliance: Ensure that all instrumentation and control systems comply with industry safety standards regulations (e.g. OSHA IEC ISA) and environmental requirements. Safety Engineering: Work with safety engineers to conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments for control system designs (e.g. HAZOP SIL). Cybersecurity: Ensure the integrity and security of control systems and instrumentation to protect against cyber threats (e.g. ICS-CERT security). Teamwork: Work closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical electrical and process engineers to ensure seamless integration of control systems with other operations. Training: Provide training to operational staff on the use and maintenance of control systems and instrumentation. Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and technicians helping to develop their skills in instrumentation and control systems.
