Location: Remote (India) Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role BigStep Technologies is looking for a skilled and hands-on Graph & Data Engineer with 4-7 years of experience to join our data engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining knowledge graphs and data pipelines that generate actionable insights across domains, including Healthcare, Fintech, and Insurance. This is an individual contributor role best suited for someone who loves working close to data, enjoys solving complex modeling challenges, and has real-world experience with graph databases and ontologies. Key Responsibilities - Design and develop Neo4j graph schemas — nodes, relationships, and properties — across multiple industry domains - Build and maintain ontologies to define entities, hierarchies, and semantic relationships within the knowledge graph - Write, test, and optimize Cypher queries for data analysis, reporting, and API support - Develop Python-based ETL/data pipelines to ingest, clean, and load data into the graph from multiple sources - Ensure data quality, consistency, and performance of the graph at scale - Collaborate with NLP, backend, and product teams to integrate graph outputs into live systems - Work across domain-specific datasets in Healthcare, Fintech, Insurance, and Consumer sectors - Document graph models, ontologies, and query patterns clearly for cross-team use Must-Have Skills - 4–7 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or graph database development - Strong working knowledge of Neo4j — including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning - Proficiency in writing and optimizing Cypher queries in a production environment - Practical experience designing ontologies and knowledge graphs for real-world datasets - Strong Python skills — ETL, data transformation, pipeline development - Ability to model complex, multi-source datasets into clean and queryable graph structures Good to Have - Familiarity with other graph platforms such as Amazon Neptune, GraphDB, or ArangoDB - Exposure to semantic web standards — RDF, OWL, or SPARQL - Understanding of NLP or entity extraction pipelines that feed into knowledge graphs - Basic knowledge of REST APIs and backend systems - Experience working with cloud platforms — AWS, GCP, or Azure
