Our interdisciplinary work is housed across three centers: The Centres for Future Mobility, Clean Mobility, and Inclusive Mobility. We develop evidence-based policy recommendations on the themes of sustainable urban mobility, electric mobility, energy and mobility, accessibility and inclusion, and the future of work and platform economy.Key Responsibilities: You will be an integral part of the OMI team that informs policymaking in India and elsewhere on the core subject of clean mobility covering electric mobility and future fuels-based mobility transitions. Your scope of work includes: StrategyAssisted in the development and implementation of policy research and advocacy roadmap to support clean mobility initiatives within targeted regions.Collaborate with the team to ensure OMI’s advocacy efforts align with India’s aspirations for a sustainable mobility future.ResearchConduct relevant, cutting-edge, and scientifically robust socio-economic and political research on issues and developments on and around electric mobility, energy transition, integration of renewable energy in mobility, and adoption of future fuels such as bio-CNG, biodiesel, bioethanol, methanol, green hydrogen, etc.Support the development of knowledge frameworks taking the shape of flagship reports, AI/ML-powered tools and dashboards, books and book chapters, monographs, white papers, issue briefs, policy briefs, etc., and other advocacy tools.Strategic engagements and communicationsEngage with state and local policymakers, government officials, and stakeholders to promote OMI’s clean mobility frameworks and initiatives.Build and maintain partnerships with relevant state-level and city-level agencies, supporting OMI’s objectives through coordinated advocacy efforts.Contribute to policy dialogues, public events, and stakeholder meetings to enhance awareness of clean mobility and promote knowledge-sharing.Collaborate with media, industry associations, think tanks and other advocacy groups to strengthen OMI’s presence in clean mobility discussions.Lead and coordinate project monitoring units established in national and sub-national governments in implementing sustainable mobility projects.FundraisingAssist senior team members in identifying funding opportunities and support proposal development for advocacy-focused projects within clean mobility.Nurturing leaders of mobilityBuild and nurture a team of mobility leaders capable of catalyzing the world’s progress toward sustainability.Skills and qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, doctorate (or equivalent) in one or more of the following disciplines: engineering (electrical, electronics, mechanical, materials, etc.), sustainable urban mobility, transport planning, urban planning, cleantech, climate action, environmental science, journalism, mass media, public policy, international relations, political science, international development, sociology, economics, and other related fields.Suitable experience in policy research, strategic engagements & communications, public policy & advocacy, preferably, within research organizations/ think tanks, corporate affairs and public policy, public administration, law firms, trade associations or non-governmental organizations, international/ multilateral organizations, media houses, etc. can be an added advantage.Years of experience expected: Wide-ranging from 4 to over 10 years.Proven ability to develop partnerships for research, communications, and strategic engagements.Outstanding written and oral communications and editing skills; proven ability to position issues effectively, both orally and in writing.A highly organized and detail-oriented thinker who can juggle multiple, competing priorities.This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to India’s clean mobility transition by supporting impactful research and strategic engagements in diverse regional contexts.To apply:If you’re the candidate we’re looking for, please apply by sending your latest CV, 3+ writing samples of varying lengths, and a cover letter to comms@.Note: OMI is an equal-opportunity employer and actively encourages women, Persons with Disabilities, and other minorities to apply.
