Duration: Contract (3-18 months, with potential for extension at the end of 3 months) Industry: Rebar Manufacturing, Construction TechnologyKey Responsibilities:Translate Construction Requirements: Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to help the software development team understand architectural and structural 2D construction drawings, including industry-specific terms and definitions, ensuring they grasp the intricacies of rebar scheduling requirements.Automation Guidance: Collaborate with the team to define and refine automation processes for digitizing construction drawings, with a focus on accurately capturing rebar placements, spacing, dimensions, and other essential details.CAD Software Consultation: Recommend suitable 3D CAD drawing software for visualizing digitized 2D drawings, particularly for enhancing them with rebar placement details. Ensure the software supports programmatic 3D drawing creation (via API) and allows for post-creation user editing.Tool Selection: Help the software team evaluate and select tools that integrate well with our automated rebar scheduling system, prioritizing efficiency, accuracy, and flexibility in 3D visualization and editing.Liaison Role: Work closely with both the construction and software teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration. Translate construction-focused requirements into actionable tasks for the AI/ML developers.Best Practices and Standards: Ensure that all digitized drawings and automation processes adhere to industry standards, including Australian construction norms and rebar manufacturing regulations.Qualifications:Expertise in Architectural/Structural Drawings: Extensive experience in working with 2D architectural and structural drawings, with a focus on rebar detailing, scheduling, and placement.CAD Software Proficiency: Familiarity with major 3D CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, etc.), including experience in integrating APIs for programmatic drawing creation and post-generation editing.Construction Automation Experience: Previous experience working with automation solutions in the construction industry, particularly those involving rebar or structural detailing, is highly desirable.Technical Communication Skills: Proven ability to explain complex construction concepts and requirements to non-expert audiences, especially AI/ML developers and software engineers unfamiliar with construction industry terminology.Collaboration Skills: Comfortable working in a collaborative environment, liaising with software teams to guide development based on construction-specific requirements.Knowledge of Industry Standards: Familiarity with Australian construction standards and practices, particularly around rebar manufacturing and installation, is a strong plus.Preferred Experience:5+ years in construction drawing, rebar detailing, or related fields.Experience consulting on or working with software automation projects.Familiarity with both 2D and 3D drawing techniques and tools.
