About the DepartmentInvest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department of Promotion for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.Key Responsibilities Owner of Sector Team: Build deep strategic knowledge across textiles, apparel, technical textiles, leather, and footwear value chains. Track global demand–supply dynamics, trade flows, sourcing shifts, ESG trends, and white-space investment opportunities. Develop sector-specific investment strategies aligned with national manufacturing and export priorities.Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with large and small global corporates – their CXOs and Boards, sectoral ministries and government agencies, industry leaders and foreign investors to foster partnerships that drive decisions on investment opportunities. Develop and execute strategies specific to target sectors.Investment Nurturing: Work collaboratively to support Marketing and Country teams to establish and execute Investment Promotion campaigns. Plan and execute international Roadshows with country teams. Own the qualification of leads from Country teams, and nurture these through the complete investment pipeline. Showcase India's potential as an investment destination, highlighting key sectors, policies, and incentives. Formulate sector specific strategies to target key investors proactively and manage pipeline regularly.Deliver Pipeline for Grounding Facilitation: Work collaboratively with the states leads to handover nurtured pipeline from select sectors for target states. Support the States team, where necessary, to facilitate grounding of these investments.Support Investment Promotion and Facilitation: Support the Country and States team, where necessary, for providing end-to-end support to investors, addressing challenges, streamlining regulatory processes, and ensuring a conducive investment environment, for removing EODB challenges.Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team, foster a collaborative and innovative work culture. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, enable their professional growth, budget oversight, and risk management. Collaborate with HR to hire the best talent, establish meritocracy in all operations, retain performers, succession planning, handling of remote/ global teams, and continuously monitor steps to replace non-performers with competent team members.Performance Measurement: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of sector team, track progress, and report to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with Country and States team to help deliver organisational goals.Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on investment nurturing activities, pipeline, progression of these, CXO engagement in key accounts and trends to the senior management, government officials, and stakeholders.QualificationsGraduate or Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Commerce, or a related field.A minimum of 20 years of experience in a leadership position in a large MNC or similar, demonstrating leadership and decision-making capabilities, hiring and building teams. Exposure and experience in handling international markets. Strong business acumen of relevant sectors is a must, and experience in working with governments is preferred.Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and strategic direction to a diverse team, developing and executing effective strategies to achieve organizational goals. Experience in nurturing (business, revenue or investment) pipeline across sectors and geographies to drive decisions is essential.Strong ability to engage with CXOs and industry leaders, international organizations, high level government officials and investors, with exceptional networking and relationship-building skills. Ability to build compelling narratives for businesses, fine tuning them for specific corporates and their leadership is essential.Familiarity with India's business environment, sectoral demand and supply chain dynamics, exposure to global competitive environments, experience in engaging and navigating the organisational structure of multinationals and family owned businesses. Navigating through regulatory improvements to drive business growth and attract investments is desirable.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analyzing economic trends and market insights fostering a results-oriented work culture, with a strong commitment to ethical practices, transparency, and integrity in all aspects of work.
