Job Description

Role: Director –C&I Energy Transformation Role Summary - Lead and scale PwC India's Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Energy Transformation offering within the P&U practice. Drive engagements with largeindustrial consumers – across Auto, Pharma, Steel, Cement, Chemicals, DataCentres, FMCG – helping them optimize power procurement, reduce energycosts, decarbonize operations, and adopt new energy models. Serve as a trustedadvisor to plant heads, energy managers, CFOs, and sustainability leadersnavigating India's evolving energy landscape. Key Responsibilities Lead the C&I energy transformation engagements across the following themes: 1.Power Procurement Optimization : Open access strategy (inter-state/intra-state), bilateral/PPA structuring, group captive models, power exchange trading (IEX/PXIL), demand forecasting & scheduling, cross-subsidy surcharge / additional surcharge optimization, banked energy management 2.Renewable Energy / Green Power : C&I solar (rooftop + ground-mount), wind, hybrid, RE PPAs (physical + virtual), third-party open access RE, captive/group captive RE, green tariff programs, REC procurement, behind-the-meter BESS 3.Energy Cost Reduction : Tariff audit & optimization (HT/EHT tariff analysis, ToD optimization, power factor management, contract demand rationalization, DG-to-grid migration), energy audit (PAT scheme compliance), fuel mix optimization 4.Captive Power & Co-generation : Captive plant optimization (coal/gas/biomass), co-gen/tri-gen strategy, waste heat recovery, captive vs grid economics, PLF & heat rate improvement, fuel procurement strategy 5.Energy Storage & Demand Response : Behind-the-meter BESS for peak shaving/ToD arbitrage, demand response participation, microgrid design for industrial campuses 6.Power Plant / Utility Asset Management : CPP O&M optimization, turbine/boiler performance assessment, predictive maintenance, digital twin for captive plants, power plant lifecycle management - Build sector-specific energy playbooks for Auto, Pharma, Steel, Cement, and Chemicals – each with tailored procurement, decarbonization, and technology roadmaps - Originate and win business – build deep relationships with CXOs (plant heads, VPoperations, CFOs, Chief Sustainability Officers) of India's largest industrial houses; target ₹8–12 Cr+ annualorigination - Collaborate across PwC – Sustainability/ESG, Tax (carbon tax/CBAM), Deals, Risk,and sector practices (Industrial Products, Pharma, Auto) – for integrated C&Isolutions - Build and lead a team of 8–12 consultants spanning energy engineering,procurement, sustainability, and regulatory Qualification : B.E./B.Tech (Electrical / Mechanical / Energy / Chemical); MBA preferred Years of experience: - 10–15 years total experience with: - 8+ years in industrial energy/power management within a large manufacturing company – in roles such as Head of Energy / Utilities, VP Operations, Plant Head,Head of Power Procurement, Chief Sustainability Officer, or equivalent - OR 8+ years advising C&I clients on energy matters from a consulting / energysolutions / ESCO platform Direct operational experience in at least one of these sectors: Auto, Pharma, Cement, Steel, Chemicals, Data centres Deep knowledge of: - Indian electricity regulatory framework – open access rules (state-specific nuances),tariff structures (HT/EHT), CSS/ASS, banking regulations, - C&I RE procurement models – captive, group captive, third-party OA, virtual PPA,green tariff, REC - Industrial energy systems – HT/EHT substations, DG sets, captive power plants, co-gen/tri-gen, compressed air, steam, HVAC, process heating, waste heat recovery Location: Mumbai/Bangalore Note: Please clearly mention the subjectline as "Director –C&I Energy Transformation- Mumbai/Bangalore" while sharing the CV on email to raamkumar.mr@.
