Job Description

This role is suited for an early to mid-career academic with a strong foundation in teaching and emerging research potential. The Assistant Professor will play an active role in designing and delivering modules across Business Management programmes, supporting student learning, and contributing to the academic life of the department. The appointee will also be encouraged to engage in research and scholarly activities aligned with the University’s academic goals.Key Responsibilities: Design, deliver, and manage courses in Accountancy and Finance at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, ensuring relevance to academic standards, industry practices, and economic trends.Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of programmes in financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, corporate finance, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and related areas.Prepare course materials, including lesson plans, assessments, and evaluation reports, aligned with university quality standards.Integrate research-informed and industry-aligned practices into teaching, learning, assessment, and feedback.Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and applied research projects in accountancy and economics.Conduct original research leading to publications in high-quality academic journals; pursue opportunities for externally funded research.Engage in curriculum innovation, particularly in accounting standards (e.g., IFRS), taxation, data analytics in finance, and economic policy or development studies.Contribute to academic administration, including moderation of assessments, programme review, and compliance with quality assurance protocols.Support a positive student experience through mentoring, academic advising, and inclusive teaching practices.Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and collaborative academic initiatives.Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching, research, and academic leadership capabilities.Candidate BackgroundPh.D. in Accountancy, Finance, or a closely related field, with up to 12 years of academic experience, demonstrating meaningful contributions to teaching, curriculum development, and academic service.Proven ability to design and deliver high-quality, research-informed teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, particularly in accounting and finance-related subjects.Demonstrated potential for academic leadership, including involvement in course coordination, student mentoring, and participation in departmental committees or planning.Experience contributing to curriculum development and programme enhancement, ensuring alignment with academic standards and evolving industry needs.Active engagement in pedagogical improvement, through scholarly research, professional development, or involvement in academic networks, with a strong commitment to innovative teaching and continuous learning.
