SP Data Centres || India || EHS Director || 6 months+We are seeking a highly experiencedSenior EHS Consultantto act as ourEHS Director for India , supporting a major new cluster of hyperscale data centre projects for an initial 6 month interim period. This role is pivotal in driving our global EHS strategy within the Indian market, ensuring that construction and operational activities meet or exceed international standards such as OSHA, NEBOSH, and our internal global frameworks. This role could lead into a more permanent role should the hire be a success.The successful candidate will be the senior EHS authority for India, reporting into theGlobal EHS Leadership Team , and will work closely with project directors, general contractors, design teams, and client stakeholders to elevate EHS performance across all phases of delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipLead the implementation of the global EHS strategy across all India‑based data centre projects. Act as the primary EHS representative for India within the global business, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. Develop and execute regional EHS improvement plans to raise performance to global benchmarks.Governance & ComplianceEnsure compliance with Indian legislation while driving adoption of higher‑order standards (OSHA, NEBOSH, ISO 45001). Establish and maintain governance frameworks for construction and operational EHS across multiple sites. Conduct high‑level audits, risk reviews, and performance assessments for all contractors and project teams.Construction & Operational SupportOversee EHS performance during design, construction, commissioning, and operational handover. Support general contractors in meeting elevated EHS expectations, including safe‑system‑of‑work development, training, and competency assurance. Provide expert guidance on high‑risk activities typical of data centre builds (MEP-heavy works, lifting operations, confined spaces, energisation, etc.).Performance ImprovementDrive continuous improvement initiatives across all projects, including leading indicators, behavioural safety, and cultural transformation. Analyse EHS data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for proactive intervention. Champion innovation in safety technologies, digital tools, and best practices.Bid & Business Development SupportSupport bid teams with EHS strategy, risk assessments, and client‑facing documentation. Represent EHS in client presentations, interviews, and proposal development. Provide expert input into resourcing, planning, and risk mitigation for new opportunities.Stakeholder EngagementBuild strong relationships with clients, contractors, authorities, and internal leadership. Influence senior stakeholders to adopt global best practices and drive accountability. Act as a mentor and coach to regional EHS teams and project managers.Qualifications & ExperienceEssential12+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience, ideally within data centres, high‑tech, industrial, or large‑scale construction. Strong understanding of Indian EHS regulations and how to elevate them to global standards. NEBOSH Diploma, OSHA certifications, or equivalent international qualifications. Proven experience leading EHS strategy across multiple projects or regions. Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cultural change.PreferredExperience working within a multinational organisation or PMC environment. Familiarity with global data centre clients and their EHS expectations. ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification. Experience with digital EHS tools and reporting platforms.Key CompetenciesStrategic thinking and ability to translate global frameworks into local execution. Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills. High level of technical EHS expertise across construction and operations.
