We run outpatient clinics, surgical units and community screening camps to reduce avoidable blindness and improve visual outcomes in Odisha. We are hiring a Consultant Ophthalmologist (Phaco/SICS) on-site in Odisha — an early-career opportunity ideal for freshers who have completed a dedicated fellowship in SICS and phacoemulsification and are ready to deliver patient‑centred surgical care in a high‑volume, quality‑driven setting. Role & Responsibilities Perform cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification and SICS) under standard operating protocols with appropriate supervision during the initial period. Conduct comprehensive outpatient clinics: pre‑operative evaluation, surgical planning, informed consent, and post‑operative follow‑up care. Maintain accurate surgical logs, EMR records, operative notes and outcome documentation to monitor quality and patient safety. Participate in community screening camps and outreach programs across Odisha; manage on‑site surgical camps when required. Adhere to sterilisation, infection‑control and ophthalmosurgical safety protocols; expedite clinical issues promptly. Collaborate with nursing and optometry teams; contribute to continuous improvement, clinical audits and peer learning sessions. Skills & Qualifications Must‑Have MBBS with postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MD/MS/DNB/DO) or equivalent, plus a recognised fellowship in SICS and Phaco. Valid medical registration with the appropriate State Medical Council. Hands‑on experience in phacoemulsification and SICS during training/fellowship; demonstrable surgical competence. Proficiency in anterior‑segment examinations and diagnostics (slit‑lamp, gonioscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, A‑scan). Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and standard operative documentation. Ability to work on‑site in Odisha, including occasional outreach or camp‑based assignments. Preferred Experience participating in cataract outreach camps or community eye programmes. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent emergency‑response training. Prior exposure to EMR systems used in private clinics or eye hospitals.
