Job Description

Role PurposeThe Head – HSE will lead and manage all Health, Safety & Environmentfunctions for the Data Center Project in Mumbai. The role is responsible forestablishing, implementing, and monitoring robust HSE systems aligned withinternational best practices, client standards, statutory regulations, and the firm’sglobal safety framework.The incumbent will ensure a zero-harm culture across all phases of design,construction, commissioning, and handover of the hyperscale data centerproject.Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & StrategyDevelop and implement the overall HSE strategy for the project inalignment with the company and client safety standards.Drive a proactive safety culture across all contractors, subcontractors, andstakeholders.Act as the primary HSE representative to the client and senior leadershipteam.Lead HSE planning during pre-construction and execution phases.2. Compliance & GovernanceEnsure compliance with Indian statutory requirements (Factories Act,Building & Other Construction Workers Act, Maharashtra state regulations,etc.).Implement international standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.Conduct periodic audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.Oversee preparation and approval of HSE plans, risk assessments, andmethod statements.3. Risk ManagementIdentify high-risk construction activities including:Heavy lifting operationsWork at heightElectrical & MEP installationsConfined space entryFire & life safety systemsLead hazard identification and risk mitigation strategies.Review and approve contractor HSE risk assessments and safetydocumentation.4. Incident ManagementEstablish robust incident reporting and investigation procedures.Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective & preventive actions.Track safety KPIs and drive continuous improvement.5. Stakeholder & Contractor ManagementInterface with client, design consultants, EPC contractors, and authorities.Conduct regular HSE review meetings with contractors.Monitor contractor HSE performance and enforce corrective actions.6. Training & AwarenessImplement safety induction and training programs.Promote behavioural safety programs and safety campaigns.Ensure competency development of site HSE teams.7. Reporting & DocumentationPrepare monthly HSE performance reports for senior leadership.Maintain documentation related to audits, inspections, and statutorycompliance.Support ESG and sustainability reporting requirements.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering / Environmental Science / OccupationalHealth & Safety.NEBOSH International Diploma or equivalent certification preferred.Minimum 18 years of HSE experience, with at least 5 years in leadershiproles.Prior experience in large-scale infrastructure, mission-critical facilities,industrial or data center projects.Strong knowledge of Indian safety regulations and international HSEstandards.Experience working with global PMCs or multinational clients preferred.
