Role: Consultant Nephrologist Organization Overview This position is with a nationally accredited, 500-bed, multi-super speciality teaching hospital located in a major regional capital city. Established decades ago, the facility stands as the primary healthcare landmark for the Northeast region, housed in a nine-storied structure with over 300,000 square feet of floor space. The institution is academically affiliated with a prominent, decades-old University renowned for excellence in medical education and healthcare. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including 13 general specialities, multiple super-speciality departments, and 12 dedicated operation theatres. It provides comprehensive 24x7 services, including a fully equipped trauma care unit and advanced diagnostic imaging featuring 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64-slice CT scan, and digital X-ray facilities. Critical care capabilities are extensive, supported by 46 well-equipped ICU beds (covering ICU, SICU, NICU, PICU, CCU, and ITU) and round-the-clock emergency services. Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nephrologist to join our team as a Clinical Practitioner. The successful candidate will manage the diagnosis and treatment of kidney-related diseases, providing expert care to inpatients and outpatients. While the role is primarily clinical and does not require an extensive academic portfolio, the institution places a high priority on candidates who possess relevant work experience within recognized university or medical college hospital settings. Key Responsibilities Clinical Management : Provide comprehensive clinical care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, and other renal disorders. Dialysis Services : Oversee and manage the Dialysis Unit, which is equipped with modern hemodialysis machines (currently 8 units, including isolation facilities) and expertise in Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD). Critical Care Nephrology : Collaborate with the intensive care team to manage complex cases requiring renal replacement therapy (CRRT, SLED) in the 46-bed ICU setup. Patient Consultation : Conduct regular outpatient consultations, providing holistic treatment plans that include lifestyle modification and dietary guidance in coordination with nutritionists. Interdepartmental Collaboration : Work closely with General Medicine, Cardiology, Urology, and other specialities to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, particularly for diabetic and hypertensive nephropathy. Procedures : Perform necessary nephrological procedures such as renal biopsies and placement of temporary vascular access for dialysis. Quality Assurance : Adhere to national accreditation standards (NABH protocols) and hospital policies to ensure the highest quality of patient safety and care delivery. Qualifications and Experience Essential Post-Graduate Qualification : M.D. or DNB in General Medicine or Paediatrics from a recognized institution. Required Super Speciality Qualification : D.M. in Nephrology (Recognized by the National Medical Commission) / M.Ch Nephrology. Experience : 1 to 4 years of experience post-completion of the super specialization (D.M.) / M.Ch Nephrology. Experience Preference : Crucially, priority will be given to candidates who have gained their experience in recognized university or teaching hospital settings. Note : Experience is strictly counted only after the completion of the super specialization. Compensation Salary Range : INR 3.5 Lakhs to INR 4.5 Lakhs per month. Determination : Final offer will be commensurate with the candidate's specific post-DM / M.Ch experience and expertise. Additional Information Nature of Role : This is a full-time Clinical Practitioner position. Academic Profile : While an academic profile (publications, research) is not mandatory, the clinical expertise gained in an academic environment is highly valued.
