GENERAL INFORMATIONDepartment: Manufacturing EngineeringDesignation: Sr. Engineer / Assistant Manager / Manager – Manufacturing Engineering (Systems)Reporting To: Sr. Manager / Head – Manufacturing EngineeringKey Stakeholders:External: Suppliers, Customers, AuditorsInternal: Production, Quality, Sales, Engineering, NPD, Purchase, Stores, MaintenanceJOB PURPOSETo lead and strengthen plant operations and manufacturing systems by driving Process Engineering standards including PFMEA, PFD, Control Plans, SOPs, Lean implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operational excellence, quality compliance, and productivity enhancement.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Process Engineering & DocumentationLead development and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) for all manufacturing processes.Facilitate and drive PFMEA activities; ensure risk mitigation and RPN reduction.Develop and maintain Control Plans aligned with customer and quality standards.Create, standardize, and approve SOPs and Work Instructions.Ensure timely updates of all documents based on ECNs and process changes.2. Manufacturing Process DevelopmentEstablish robust manufacturing processes for machining, assembly, welding, grinding, coating, plating, etc.Lead process validation activities including trial runs and PPAP documentation.Drive poka-yoke implementation and error-proofing systems.Optimize cycle time, manpower, and line balancing.3. Continuous Improvement & Lean ImplementationImplement Lean Manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, TPM, Visual Management, Jidoka).Lead cost reduction and productivity improvement projects.Monitor KPIs (OEE, rejection rate, rework, downtime).Conduct root cause analysis using 8D, Why-Why, Fishbone, etc.4. Compliance & Quality SystemsEnsure compliance with ISO/IATF standards and customer-specific requirements.Support internal and external audits.Ensure manufacturing documentation readiness for audits.Drive risk mitigation planning through systematic PFMEA review.5. Cross-Functional LeadershipCoordinate with Production, Quality, NPD, and Maintenance teams.Lead cross-functional improvement projects.Guide and mentor junior engineers.Support new product development and localization activities.REQUIRED COMPETENCIESStrong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.Expertise in PFMEA, Control Plan, PFD, and SOP preparation.Sound understanding of machining, assembly, welding, powder coating, chrome plating processes.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools (Poka-Yoke, Jidoka, 5S, Kaizen, TPM).Good exposure to customer-specific requirements.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Leadership and team-handling capability (for Manager level).PREFERRED EXPERIENCEExperience in automotive manufacturing.Experience in dampers or suspension components will be an added advantage.Exposure to IATF 16949 systems preferred.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEQualification: DME / BE – Mechanical / Automobile / Production
