Reports to: Vice President, Global Advocacy and IntelligenceCountry: IndiaLocation: RemoteRole SummaryThe Director – Advocacy & Government Relations – India & Southeast Asia supports the Global Electronics Association’s advocacy efforts across India and Southeast Asia. This role is responsible for executing national and regional government relations strategies, monitoring policy and regulatory developments, supporting member engagement, and coordinating with internal teams and external consultants.The Director operates under the direction of the Vice President of Global Government Relations and plays a critical role in translating global advocacy priorities into effective regional execution. Ideal candidates will bring strong regional policy expertise, excellent relationship-management skills, and a demonstrated ability to operate in complex, multi-country policy environments.Key ResponsibilitiesRegional Government Relations ExecutionSupport the development and execution of the Association’s government relations strategy for India and Southeast Asia, aligned with global advocacy priorities.Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and trade policy developments affecting the electronics manufacturing ecosystem, including semiconductors, electronics assemblies, PCBs, EMS, sustainability, and trade.Prepare policy briefings, position papers, talking points, and internal updates for Association leadership and member companies.Support engagement with government ministries, regulators, and relevant agencies across the region.Member & Industry EngagementServe as a primary point of contact for member companies in India and Southeast Asia on government relations issues.Support the Global Electronics Policy Council and its working groups, including meeting preparation, agenda development, and follow-up.Coordinate with member companies to gather industry input, align advocacy positions, and catalyze grassroots advocacy as appropriate.Represent the Association at regional industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings, as appropriate. Cross-Functional & External CoordinationWork closely with global government relations leadership to ensure consistency of messaging and alignment with broader Association advocacy efforts.Coordinate with internal teams across standards, sustainability (Evolve), workforce, trade, and industry intelligence to support integrated advocacy campaigns.Manage relationships with external consultants, advisors, or law firms supporting government relations activities in the region, as applicable.Support coalition engagement with peer associations and industry groups operating in India and Southeast Asia. Program Support & OperationsSupport planning and execution of regional advocacy initiatives, briefings, and events.Track policy engagement activities and contribute to internal reporting on advocacy outcomes and priorities.Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for regional government relations activities.Ensure adherence to applicable lobbying, ethics, and compliance requirements in relevant jurisdictions.Qualifications  6–8+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, trade associations, industry advocacy, or government roles, preferably with exposure to India and/or Southeast Asia.Strong understanding of public policy, regulatory, and trade dynamics affecting electronics manufacturing, technology, or industrial policy.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across countries and stakeholders in a fast-moving policy environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting policy materials and briefing senior leaders.Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with government officials, industry representatives, and internal stakeholders.Experience working with or managing consultants is a plus.Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public policy, international affairs, law, or a related field preferred.Key Attributes Strong judgment, professionalism, and discretion.Detail-oriented with a focus on execution and follow-through.Collaborative and comfortable working within a matrixed, global organization.Culturally fluent and adaptable across diverse political and business environments.Motivated by advancing industry competitiveness and shaping policy outcomes.
