We have exciting opportunities for the role of Associate Vice President, Marine Risk EngineerLocation: DelhiInterested candidate can share resume on saba.kazi@ with subject line Associate Vice President, Marine Risk Engineer and share below details.Current SalaryExpectationNotice PeriodEducation (Full Time / part Time)Job Description: (Marine Cargo & Supply Chain – Transit Risk Management)Role : Associate Vice President, Marine Risk EngineerDept : Property Risk And Value Added Services | Logistics risk managementPosition Title: Mid-Senior Risk Engineer – Marine Cargo & Supply ChainDepartment: Marine Loss Control Engineering (MLCE) / Risk EngineeringRole OverviewThe Mid-Senior Risk Engineer will be responsible for driving marine cargo risk engineering, loss control activities pertaining to root cause assessments of damages of cargo in transitThe role involves detailed risk assessment, loss prevention advisory, packaging reviews with transit safe recommended packing and supporting underwriting decisions by providing risk management solution to ensure optimal loss ratios and seamless business onboarding.The position requires strong technical expertise.Core role is to prevent losses and manage recurring losses of Insured cargo movement and as per company’s requirementKey Responsibilities1. Marine Loss Control Engineering (MLCE) & Risk AssessmentLead MLCE (marine loss control engineering) activities to minimize losses in marine cargo transit and support profitable business acquisition.Conduct risk assessments for underwriters and provide actionable insights to support underwriting decisions.Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of cargo claims and recommend corrective measures.Visit cargo handling locations and prepare detailed reports highlighting observations, deficiencies, and risk mitigation measures.Conduct post-audit follow-ups, track recommendation closures, and support clients in loss reduction initiatives.Create a solution explaining root cause with technical explanation and make a presentation to explain the Sr. officials of our client to ensure recommendations to enhance cargo adequate securing measures are adapted for loss controlOpportunity to develop technical systems regarding packaging improvement or platform based assessment.Use expertise, skills and experience of packaging to develop systems and projects so as to minimize losses with the help of packaging improvement suggestions and or develop own packaging standards.2. Marine Warranty Surveying (MWS) (Post training inhouse)Drive and manage Marine Warranty Surveys, including:Condition Assessment Surveys across Surface, Air, Sea, Rail, and Multimodal (MM) transport.Domestic PDI (Pre-Dispatch Inspection) – Ground surveys.International PDI – Ground + Virtual (with/without assistance).Dispatch Inspections – Virtual inspections (with assistance) for domestic & international moves.Vessel Surveys including SIRE, CAS (Condition Assessment Surveys), Pre-Purchase (PP), and Desktop Reviews (DR).3. Transit Risk Management for Critical & ODC Cargo (Post inhouse training) Oversee and mitigate transit risks associated with critical cargo and Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC) movements.Deploy available tools, resources, and engineering controls to ensure safe and compliant dispatches.4. Cargo Securing & Technical Advisory (Value-Added Services) pertaining to packaging, adequate securingProvide expert advisory on cargo securing practices to marine insured clients.Engage with client logistics teams for risk assessment discussions.Conduct pre-risk inception surveys and issue Survey Waiver Approvals (SWA) as per SOP.5. Packaging AssessmentEvaluate cargo packaging adequacy and recommend improvements to reduce risk of damage during transit.6. Loss Ratio ManagementMonitor and control loss ratios on high-frequency loss policies through MLCE activities.Recommend feasible and cost-effective loss prevention measures to mitigate recurring perils.7. Performance Tracking & ReportingTrack the performance of MLCE and survey activities across the team.Prepare dashboards and reports to present performance insights to internal and external stakeholders.8. Risk Innovation & Value-Added ProjectsDevelop innovative risk management projects that enhance business value for customers.Provide end-to-end risk solutions as part of a one-stop value-added service offering.9. Reporting & PresentationIssue high-quality technical reports, risk assessments, and survey findings.Prepare and deliver client presentations highlighting deliverables, risk improvement needs, and implementation progress.11. Loss Mitigation & Risk ControlImplement loss mitigation measures for wet damage, accidents, mishandling, theft, pilferage, and hijack risks.Use inspections, recommendations, MLCE tools, and adaptive telematics to minimize en-route losses.12. On-Site Survey Management pertaining to improved packaging, securing and misc measures to enhance safetyConduct and manage surveys relating to:Cargo dispatchesLoading/unloading operationsSurface transportRake/wagon handlingContainer stuffing/de-stuffingODC shipmentsVessel operationsAir & sea shipmentsPerform surveys both within India and internationally as required by business needs.Qualifications & SkillsTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of cargo securing, packaging and supply chain risk management.Expertise in root cause analysis and loss prevention methodologies of cargo dispatchesStrong working knowledge, experience and ability to work on Office, excel, PPTX & create presentationsSoft SkillsExcellent communication, client interaction, and stakeholder management skills.Strong analytical, report-writing, and presentation capabilities.Ability to lead, coordinate, and manage multiple surveys and risk engineering initiatives.Problem-solving attitude with attention to detail.
