UPES is hiring!!!Applications are invited for the post of Professors & Associate Professor(s) in the School of Design (SOD) With UPES, Dehradun.We are looking for high-end interdisciplinary research professionals.For more details about UPES & School of Design, visit our website: Key Responsibilities Teaching & Curriculum DevelopmentTeach undergraduate and postgraduate (e.g., B.Des Animation & VFX) and postgraduate courses in animation, visual effects, and related design subjects.Design and update curriculum, course content, and learning materials to keep pace with emerging industry trends (e.g., real-time rendering, augmented reality, virtual production).Develop lab-based exercises, workshops, and practical assignments for animation, compositing, 3D modeling, rigging, FX, etc.Student Supervision & MentorshipMentor student projects, capstone assignments, and internships.Supervise students’ academic progress, provide career guidance, and support their professional development (portfolios, placements).Guide research projects, thesis work, and independent studies (if applicable).Research & Scholarly ActivitiesConduct research in relevant domains (animation, VFX, simulation, procedural graphics, etc.).Publish in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, or design-research outlets.Apply for and manage research grants, collaborate on funded projects.Industry EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with animation studios, VFX houses, game companies, and related creative industries.Facilitate guest lectures, masterclasses, industry workshops, and student exposure to real-world production pipelines.Promote student internships, live projects, and industry partnerships.Administration & ServiceParticipate in departmental and university-level committees (academic council, curriculum committee, quality assurance, etc.).Contribute to admission processes, portfolio reviews, and student recruitment for design programs.Assist in setting up and maintaining animation/VFX labs and infrastructure (software licenses, hardware, studio resources).Professional DevelopmentStay updated with new tools, technologies, and trends in animation and VFX (e.g., Houdini, Unreal Engine, GPU renderers).Engage in continuous learning via conferences, workshops, and research to bring cutting-edge practices to students.Qualifications & ExperienceMaster's/ Ph.D. in relevant discipline (Animation, VFX, Computer Graphics, Design).Minimum 10-15+ years of combined experience in academia, research, and/or industry.Significant research output, including high-impact publications, grants, and/or creative work.Prior experience in academic administration and curriculum development.Common Desired Skills & AttributesExpertise in animation pipelines (2D, 3D), visual effects, compositing, motion graphics, simulation, character animation, and/or game engines.Strong working knowledge of software: Maya, Blender, Houdini, Nuke, Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D, etc.Excellent pedagogical skills: ability to teach, mentor, and assess creative work.Ability to lead and manage student teams in project-based learning.Good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.Creative thinking, problem-solving, and a passion for innovation in design education.Prior experience in building or managing lab infrastructure (hardware, software) is a plus.Candidates must meet eligibility requirements as per UGC guidelines.
