Position: Chief Trainer/Senior Trainer (Industrial Mechanics)Purpose: The Chief Trainer / Senior Trainer (Industrial Mechanics) shall be responsible for advanced skills training, mentoring, and capability building of students in the planning, design, fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical machines and systems, aligned with industry standards, national occupational standards, and international skill benchmarks (including World Skills-aligned competencies).The role emphasises hands-on mastery, systematic fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair, design, innovation, safety, and performance excellence, and contributes to BSDU’s mission of integrating university education with demonstrable, industry-validated skills.Qualifications & ExperienceEssentialBE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.Minimum 20 years of hands-on industrial experience in troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of complex mechanical systems and industrial equipment, including:Material handling systems and conveyorsFabrication and machining systems and/or farming, food-processing, textile, packaging, and automated production machinery, and related industrial mechanical systemsRotating machinery (pumps, motors, compressors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, couplings)Associated hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechatronic subsystemsPrior experience in large industrial plants, manufacturing units, heavy engineering, or process industries.Exposure to safety standards, quality systems, and industrial best practices relevant to mechanical operations and maintenance.Demonstrated ability and deep interest in mentoring and nurturing highly skilled technical manpower, including students and early-career engineers.Problem solving ability and ability to work in challenging situations.Excellent communication and teamworking skills.DesirableFamiliarity with modern maintenance philosophies (TPM, RCM, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, FMEA, MTTF and MTBF reduction).Prior experience in:Training apprentices, technicians, engineers, or engineering/polytechnic studentsSkill competitions and trade testing.Website:
