As a rapidly growing company, with offices in the USA, UK, Australia, and India servicing clients in over 60 countries, we are seeking talented and ambitious individuals to join our company.The RoleThe Video Editor is a crew member of the JoVE Video Journal post-production team. Their primary role is to assemble from the script, rough edits of Journal articles.The Video Editor will receive assignments from and report to a Post Production Supervisor. They will also work closely with our Content Engineer, Post Production Producer, and other Video Editors.Responsibilities:• Ingesting and conforming footage from all over the world• Logging footage in accordance with our naming conventions• Generating text and graphical assets using the Adobe suite• Preparing Adobe Premiere project files and template folders for editors• Assembling per the script, rough edits of video articles for author review• Conducting production quality control reviews on author submitted videos (ASVs)• Communicating with the appropriate parties via project tracking documents and other channels• Recognizing and reporting problematic or “special-case” footage to the Post Production Supervisor or Producer.• Supporting the Journal editing team in its mission using true and tested workflows and in developing new ones as the work demands.Requirements:• 3+ years of experience in video editing; agency, company/team, and/or cutting-to-specification experience required.• 1+ years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite video, audio, and image post-production applications, particularly Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Media Encoder (we run Adobe in our house, no exceptions.)• Corresponding experience with post-production practices, tools, and conventions such as file codecs and formats, as well as importing, exporting, and transcoding digital media• Strong attention to detail and propensity to spot glitches and irregularities.• Familiarity with Internet productivity software such as Google Suite, Zoom, AWS, File-transfer Protocol (FTP) (e.g. FileZilla, Cyberduck), etc.• Strong English-language written and verbal skills are required.• Interest in scientific research and communication; a plus.• Demo reel or portfolio that demonstrates the above professional requirements.
