This senior individual contributor role acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex Workday issues, ensuring data accuracy, supporting UAT cycles, and collaborating closely with US HR, Payroll, and Workday Technology teams.The Lead will own escalations, manage organizational hierarchies, maintain job catalogs, optimize business processes, and ensure seamless HR system operations. The ideal candidate brings deep Workday functional expertise, strong analytical capability, and a high level of ownership in supporting Workday-driven HR operations.This role requires working night shifts with rotational weekly offs and is based out of our Chennai office.Key ResponsibilitiesWorkday Functional Support & Super User ExpertiseServe as SME for advanced Workday HCM and at least two additional modules (Talent, Compensation, Absence, Benefits, Time Tracking, Payroll).Troubleshoot and resolve complex Workday issues including workflow routing failures, integration discrepancies, configuration queries, and data load exceptions.Act as the primary escalation point for unresolved technical or functional issues, collaborating with Client IT, HRIS, and Workday Support teams to ensure timely closure.Resolve Tier 1 & Tier 2 issues and coordinate with retained teams/vendors on Tier 3 escalations.Support US HR with critical transactions such as Hires, Job Changes, Compensation Changes, Terminations, Position Management movements, and payroll-impacting actions.Maintain and update job catalogs, positions, supervisory organizations, and organizational hierarchies.Ensure accurate and timely administration of HR systems and databases; correct data issues proactively.Develop, run, and optimize standard and custom Workday reports.Payroll & Timekeeping SupportValidate Workday data impacting payroll and downstream integrations (ADP, Kronos, Compass).Troubleshoot payroll-related discrepancies and support US Payroll teams on audit and exception resolution.Data Integrity, Audits & CompliancePerform deep-dive Workday audits, mass data validations, and periodic data integrity checks.Ensure all Hire-to-Retire and Payroll transactions comply with US regulatory, audit, and internal governance requirements.Maintain strong documentation for audit trails, validation logs, and system governance.Update SOPs, job aids, and compliance guidelines as required.UAT, Enhancements & Release ManagementLead Workday release cycles (R1 and R2) by coordinating configuration reviews, testing, and operational readiness.Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for enhancements, integrations, new features, and regression cycles.Identify defects, conduct impact analysis, and provide operational sign-off for production deployment.Review, refine, and optimize Workday business processes, workflows, and routings.Conduct Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions and train internal teams on new Workday functionalities.QualificationsExperience3–6 years of proven experience in Workday HR Operations or HRIS support with US tenant exposure.Hands-on experience managing complex Workday issues across multiple HCM modules.Technical ExpertiseWorkday Certified preferred; strong functional expertise in HCM and at least two modules (Talent, Compensation, Absence, Benefits, Time Tracking).Proficiency in Workday configuration, troubleshooting, EIB/mass loads, and data management.Experience using ServiceNow or similar case management tools.Familiarity with downstream systems such as Kronos, Compass, ADP and their integrations.EducationBachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.Workday certifications strongly preferred.CompetenciesAdvanced analytical and troubleshooting ability with strong HR reporting and data interpretation skills.Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and client-facing skills—especially with US HR and Payroll teams.High accuracy, data governance discipline, and strong documentation/SOP writing capability.Strong ability to interpret system behavior, identify root causes, and recommend functional or configuration fixes.Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
